Editor s note I write very freely about people of different races and cultures and although I do my research, I think that sense of freedom might come from being of mixed heritage and an immigrant. Jane Wurwand, Powerhouse, p63 While working with clients in my nutrition practice, I concluded that those who approached their healing holistically and included a mind, body, spirit approach to their nutritional programme recovered their health quicker and had longer-lasting beneficial results. Another racy lady in this issue is Mari Rabie (Entrepreneurs, p74), a former double Olympian who s still leading the field with her venture, MOVEPRETTY, and offering an inspiring example of using one s skills to maximum advantage in a career transition. Our feature A Taste of Spirit (p96) explains how choosing wholesome, nutritious foods can benefit the soul and emotions as much as the body, while Dermalogica founder Jane Wurwand (Powerhouse, p63) tells us how she and her partner built up a leading skincare brand by bucking the trend and avoiding the use of artificial ingredients, mineral oil or alcohol in its products. Still on the subject of physical wellbeing, our feature Finding Affordable Medical Aid (p84) offers crucial advice for combatting the alarmingly high rates and comparatively poor cover provided by many of the country s schemes. Most of us have been guilty of impulse purchasing, or over-stocking our pantries and wardrobes at some stage. Yet we human beings are amazingly resilient and adaptable: we very quickly lose our acquisitive drive and learn to be content with and, ultimately, grateful for a much simpler lifestyle, where the things that truly matter to us are restored to their rightful ranking in our priorities.
