Caution Turn off (O) the printer and disconnect it from the power source before performing the following procedure. Remove the electronics cover by pressing in on the electronics cover with the palm of your hand, and then lifting up on the cover. If Then No Go to Install the New Liner Take-up Assembly on page 8. Yes Continue with Remove the Old Liner Take-up Assembly. Remove the Old Liner Take-up Assembly. Caution Observe proper electrostatic safety precautions when handling static-sensitive components such as circuit boards and printheads. Connect yourself to an antistatic device.. See Figure 5. Disconnect the liner take-up cable from P6 on the main logic board. 6 Liner Take-Up Option/Maintenance Kit Remove the Old Liner Take-up Assembly. Caution Wear protective eyewear when installing or removing E-rings, C-clips, snap rings, springs, and mounting buttons. These are under tension and could fly off. See Figure 6. Turn the printer around and remove the e-ring securing the liner take-up spindle to the shaft. Caution Wear protective eyewear when installing or removing E-rings, C-clips, snap rings, springs, and mounting buttons. These are under tension and could fly off. See Figure 8. Remove and discard the tape factory install to secure the spindle assembly during shipment.. Slide the new spindle assembly from the liner take-up assembly. Feed the loose end of the liner take-up cable assembly through the access hole in the base of the main frame. 4. Connect the liner take-up cable connector to P6 on the main logic board. Align the holes in the motor assembly mounting plate with the holes in the mainframe. Secure the motor assembly with the two mounting screws provided. 7. See Figure 6 on page 6. 0 Liner Take-Up Option/Maintenance Kit Reinstall the Electronics Cover Reinstall the Electronics Cover. See Figure 0. Install the electronics cover by aligning it and sliding down, ensuring the lower flanges are inside the base and the upper flanges are between the main frame and the media door. Install the electronics cover mounting screw and lock washer. 5. Reinstall media and ribbon. 6. Close the media cover. 7. Reconnect the AC power cord. 8.
