From the basic three-strand to the fancy fishtail, braids are a never ending opportunity of creativity. Stand out from the braided crowd and show us what you ve got! Ready, set, braid! COMPETITION RULES Each competitor must supply their own model. Models must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. The use of color is optional, but must be pre-done and must complement the style. Extensions are allowed but must be done in advance. Hair may be pre-set, but must be brushed back before the start of the competition. Hair Pieces are not allowed. Model clothing, makeup and accessories must be done in advance and must complement the finished style. All styling tools are allowed. One electrical outlet will be provided with an 1800 watt maximum. Imagination and creativity will be the key focus and displayed in the completed work. Any hair braiding is accepted and can be incorporated into an up do if you wish, but the braid needs to be the main focus and stay true to the theme. There will be 3-5 minutes allotted after the competition to finish dressing or accessorizing your model. You may not touch your model s hair at this point in time. Models may be posed, seated or standing but must remain in the same position for the duration of the judging process. COMPETITION TIME: 45 MINUTES

Utilizing current trends and your own artistic innovation and flare for inspiration, come show us if you re a true expert in styling and finishing! COMPETITION RULES Each competitor must supply his or her own mannequin head. Any type of female head is acceptable. Extensions are allowed but must be done in advance. Hair must be wet at the start of the competition. Hair pieces are not allowed. All styling tools are allowed. One electrical outlet will be provided with an 1800 watt maximum. Tripods may be used during the competition, but must be removed and mannequins must be placed in a holder affixed to the table for the duration of judging. GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS Only currently licensed cosmetologists or enrolled students qualify for entry into the event. Competitors must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Any competitor that arrives after the starting time will forfeit all time lapsed, and/or may be disqualified. Registration fees will not be reimbursed for late arrival. All competitors must furnish their own supplies and equipment including mannequins, mannequin holders and models. Phones, ipods or MP3 Players are not allowed on the competition floor. Coaching from the audience will cause the competitor to be penalized. All competitors and models must sign a release form. The form allows the Professional Beauty Association to use any photos taken during the event for industry and non-industry publication and promotion of this and future events and that you agree that you have read and understood the rules of the competition. PBA reserves the right to cancel any competition with less than five competitors. In the event of a cancellation, competitors will be notified by phone and email no later than one (1) week before the competition and a refund will be issued. JUDGING Judging will be at the completion of each category. 30 minutes will be allocated for judging on the competition floor. On completion of judging, all competitor s models and mannequins will be photographed by an official photographer; this may be used for future marketing or advertising purposes. The judges decision is final. All categories will be judged as a total look (Head to Toe on models or Head to Bust on mannequins)
QUALIFICATIONS To qualify as a student, the competitor must be currently enrolled in a cosmetology school on the day of the competition and show proof of enrollments. The competitor may NOT be currently licensed in any state or country. To qualify as a licensed professional, the competitor must be currently licensed and show proof of licensure. LIABILITY The Professional Beauty Association, Premiere Orlando Show and the Orange County Convention Center shall not be responsible or liable for models or any damages arising out of work performed on model s hair. The Professional Beauty Association, Premiere Orlando Show and the Orange County Convention Center shall not be held accountable or liable for any damages, loss, harm or injury to competition participants or models. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT Participants must have all of their equipment ready to begin at the allocated time (you will not be allowed to borrow from other competitors). Each participant will be provided with one (1) electrical outlet on the competition floor. Only one (1) item may be plugged into the outlet at a time. All electrical equipment must be 1800 watts or less. All blow dryers must be marked with wattage.
