ARTISSIMA GUIDE FOR PARTICIPATION 1. WHAT IS ARTISSIMA? Artissima is Italy s most important contemporary art fair. Since its establishment in 1994, it has combined the presence of an international market with a focus on experimentation and research. The fair is curated by Artissima Srl, a company connected with the Fondazione Torino Musei. The sections of Artissima are 8: in addition to the main exhibition (Main Section, Dialogue, New Entries, Art Editions & Multiples), the fair is also composed of four art sections, headed by a board of international curators and museum directors, devoted to emerging artists (Present Future), drawings (Disegni), rediscovering the great pioneers of contemporary art (Back to the Future) and to sound projects (Sound), the new section. 2. WHEN IS ARTISSIMA? The 25th edition of Artissima takes place from 1 to 4 November 1 November: preview and opening (by invitation) 11.00 am preview / 5.00 pm opening 2 4 November: open to the public 12.00 pm 8.00 pm 3. 5. HOW TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION REQUEST Artissima keeps improving its digital platform: this year the application process will be included at www.artissima.art/application The galleries which have participated to Artissima 2017 should follow OPTION B and enter their own reserved area by using their 2017 access data. Some forms will be already fulfilled; hence applying to Artissima will be easier and quicker. Each gallery will also be able to update its Gallery Profile (visible on artissima.art) until 15 May The galleries which have not participated to Artissima 2017 should follow OPTION A. 6. AT WHICH POINT IN THE PROCESS IS IT POSSIBLE TO SELECT THE DESIRED SECTION? The point in the application process in which to select the section (or sections) for participation is Point 5. N.B. It is possible to select one or more sections at the same time; further along in the process, you can insert specific requests for each selected section.
There are 8 steps in the online registration process for Artissima : 1. GENERAL INFO: provide info on the gallery / indicate of a contact to whom to send all the communications regarding the fair / accept the Privacy Policy statement 2. OTHER INFO: indicate the digital profile of the gallery, with image of reference / indicate previous participation at fairs, including Artissima (since 2013) if pertinent 3. ARTISTS: indicate artists represented by the gallery (from which, in a subsequent step, to choose those the gallery wants to bring to the fair, in each specific section) 4. REGULATIONS: acknowledge that you have understood the deadlines and accept the general regulations 5. SECTIONS: select the section (or sections) in which to participate 6. SELECTION: indicate specific requests for each section: first select the type of booth, then accept the terms and conditions 7. BILLING: provide billing information / indicate legal representative / apply for participation with acceptance of general regulations 8. COMPLETION: download the application (or applications) for participation in PDF format / indicate info for payment of deposit / indicate materials attached to the application (or applications) for participation When these 8 steps have been completed, sign and submit the application (or applications) for participation, which should be scanned and sent by e-mail, as indicated at Point 4 of this guide. 7. FOR WHICH SECTIONS OF THE FAIR IS IT POSSIBLE TO APPLY? Are now accepted for the following sections: Main Section - Dialogue - New Entries - Art Editions & Multiples - Disegni - Back to the Future - Present Future - Sound (new section).
8. THE SECTIONS OF ARTISSIMA The range of the booths prices goes from 180,00 to 250,00 Euro sq.mt., depending on the section. MAIN SECTION The Main Section brings together outstanding galleries in the international art scene: established names offer collectors and art lovers an event of the highest quality. Deadline: 15 May Deposit to be paid by 15 May : 2.000,00 Euro XS: 28 sq.mt. (only for galleries that participated in the New Entries section in 2017) S: 32/40 sq.mt. M: 44/56 sq.mt. L: 64/72 sq.mt. XL: 80/96 sq.mt. XXL: 104 sq.mt. DIALOGUE Dialogue is exclusively reserved to emerging galleries or galleries with an experimental approach applying with either a monographic booth or with works by 2-3 artists in dialogue. NEW ENTRIES The New Entries section presents the most interesting young galleries opened from less than 5 years and taking part in Artissima for the first time. ART EDITIONS & MULTIPLES Art Editions & Multiples is a special section of Artissima exclusively devoted to galleries and no profit spaces presenting editions, prints and multiples by contemporary artists. Deadline: 15 May Deposit to be paid by 15 May : 1.000,00 Euro XXS: 16/24 sq.mt. (only for non-profit spaces) XS: 28 sq.mt. S: 32/ 40 sq.mt. DISEGNI Disegni (Drawings), is the section of Artissima that presents monographic booths dedicated to the most relevant developments in drawings. Deadline: 15 May Deposit to be paid by 15 May : 1.000,00 Euro XXS: 24 sq.mt. BACK TO THE FUTURE Back to the Future presents solo exhibitions by artists whose work plays an important role in the history of art and deserve renewed attention. This year, the section features museum quality monographic booths focusing exclusively on works realised between 1980 and 1994. Deadline: 15 May Deposit to be paid by 15 May : 2.000,00 Euro XS: 28 sq.mt. S: 32/40 sq.mt. M: 44/56 sq.mt.
PRESENT FUTURE Future is the section reserved by Artissima to emerging talents. The artists will be selected by a committee of international curators on the basis of site-specific projects which will be presented by their reference galleries. Deadline: 15 May Deposit to be paid by 15 May : 1.000,00 Euro XXS: 24 sq.mt. SOUND Sound is the new section of Artissima devoted to monographic sound projects in the contemporary art scenario, presented by galleries participating in the edition of the fair and selected by an international team of curators. Sound will take place in a different venue, the OGR - Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Torino. Deadline: 15 May Fixed fee for admission to the selection process to be paid by 15 May : 300,00 Euro + IVA 22%
9. HOW ARE GALLERIES SELECTED FOR THE FAIR? The selection is made on the submitted projects which need to be accompanied by the signed application form and a deposit fee to be sent within May 15th. The Selection Committee of Main Section, Dialogue, New Entries, Art Editions & Multiples is made up of gallery owners who take part at the fair and vote. The director of the fair is not entitled to vote. The Curatorial Committees of Back to the Future, Present Future, Disegni, Sound (new section) are made up of museum directors and curators. The director of the fair is not entitled to vote. 10. WHAT MATERIALS SHOULD I SUBMIT TOGETHER WITH THE APPLICATION FORM? All applications should be accompanied by the deposit and by documentation on the artists you intend to show at Artissima. Each artist s documentation shall include: biography, bibliography, images (min. 3 max. 6), short description of the exhibition planned for your booth (maximum 1 page), short history of your gallery and gallery mission; optional: press material related to the gallery (maximum 3 articles). Please do not send material about artists that you are not planning to exhibit at the Fair. No printed material is required, beside the signed application form, properly filled in. Please send all the required documentation via e-mail or Wetransfer to the following email address: application@artissima.it 11. WHEN AND HOW DO I NEED TO TRANSFER THE DEPOSIT FEE? Applications must be accompanied by an application deposit fee via bank transfer. No application without deposit will be submitted to the Selection Committee. Bank transfer to: ARTISSIMA s.r.l. Payments must be made only in Euros. Copy of the transfer receipt must be enclosed to the Application Form. Bank charges at Exhibitor s expense.- Any bank expenses charged to Artissima Srl will be withheld in case of reimbursement.
12. WHEN DO GALLERIES RECEIVE NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE OR NON-AC- CEPTANCE? The results of the selection will be announced within mid-july. 13. WILL THE DEPOSIT FEE BE REFUNDED IF THE GALLERY IS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE SELECTION COMMITTEE? Once received the application deposit fee, Artissima will send a receipt which validates the received amount. Should the application not be accepted by the Selection Committee, the deposit will be refunded via bank transfer. The Organiser will retain 300,00 Euro + 22% VAT if due, for operational expenses and issue an invoice that will be sent via email to the galleries.
