The Origins Taking something and using it to express your own personality requires total immersion. This philosophy has been adopted by ANONIMO, and is reflected by the very name of the brand, founded in Florence in 1997. ANONIMO has made a name for itself in the uncompromising world of professional diving, particularly amongst the famous C.N.S. ( Cooperativa Nazionale Sommozzatori ), developing a watch able to withstand pressures of 120 ATM, equivalent to over a thousand metres, baptised the Millemetri. It was subsequently even successfully tested at a depth of more than 2000 metres. On the strength of its patented inven- tions, always developed in conjunction with the most demanding of professionals, ANONIMO launched several other patented product lines, including the emblematic MILITARE, featuring the famous winding crown guard at 6 or 12 o clock, and the Professionale, equipped with the screw-in crown locking system and completely water-resistant push-buttons. In 2006, military engineer Dino Zei joined ANONIMO on a permanent basis, and lent his name to a product line that he had developed, working not only on the design but also on the quality of the materials used. Examples of this are the DRASS steel or bronze used for the cases, and the Kodiak straps. Many different models have been produced, often customised and released in tiny quantities, and many improvements have been made to the manufacturing process of these timepieces. Since 2013, the company has been complying with Swiss Made criteria following its move to Switzerland. This was a natural step, since Florentine watches have always been driven by Swiss movements ( ETA, Sellita, or even Dubois Dépraz ). The first decision taken was to reduce the number of lines available, in order to build a solid and simple foundation for the brand s revival. Only the MILITARE and NAUTILO were retained. However, the philosophy of the label s founders remains unchanged : a simple and very distinctive design, perfect dial readability, and proven robustness. In order to illustrate this historic relationship, and the natural border between the two countries, the symbolic silhouette of the Matterhorn was chosen as the brand s new logo, still engraved on the back of certain models. The iconic shape of this illustrious summit, with its peak at a height of over 4000 m, also represents the A of ANONIMO. With an aesthetic inspired by Italian elegance and the distinct features of bronze, an ANONIMO watch embodies robustness and practicality through its cushion-shaped case, and distinctive, meticulous design. The 12/04/08 triangle A crown worthy of the spotlight Some symbols are classic ; they cannot be invented. As its signature, ANONIMO has adopted a highly distinctive triangle for its time display, seen both on the hands and on the dial of MILITARE and NAUTILO models. The stripped-back dial features indexes at 12, 4 and 8 o clock set in a triangle in a nod to the capital A of ANONIMO, and the legendary silhouette of the Matterhorn, the brand s logo which honours its origins. This is the perfect way of ensuring the indicators are supremely easy to read. These timepieces boast a unique, immediately recognisable design feature : the MILITARE line has a distinctive crown guard at 12 o clock. Simple and effective, yet utterly ingenious. Held in place by the mechanical pressure of the strap, adjusted to fit the wrist, the crown s seal is guaranteed, ensuring it cannot be opened by accident. Movements Since ANONIMO was founded, it has always boasted close links to Swiss watchmaking expertise. Swiss movements have been fitted in all the watches produced to date. Today s models use self-winding movements by Sellita, an independent Swiss producer created in 1950, which Cushion-shaped case is dedicated solely to making mechanical watch movements. These same movements are fitted in the watches of many iconic brands : SW200-1 movements are found in the NAUTILO line, SW260-1 in the MILITARE line, and SW300-1 with the Dubois-Dépraz 2035-M module in the chronos. The power reserve varies from 38 hours to 42 hours, depending on the model. Since the brand was founded in 1997, the majority of ANONIMO watches have featured a cushionshaped case. Forged from solid metal, using traditional Florentine expertise, this enables the watches to withstand very high levels of pressure, as in the Professionale line, whose watches are water-resistant to 2000 metres. With an aesthetic inspired by Italian elegance, an ANONIMO watch embodies robustness and practicality, with both the MILITARE and NAUTILO lines now featuring a cushion-shaped case. A similar principle is used on the NAUTILO collection. Its unusual positioning of the crown at 4 o clock offers greater user comfort, and a protected screw-down crown also helps prevent accidental activation.
Bronze The most renowned sculptors in history have used bronze to forge timeless works of art which touch the soul. This alloy offers such amazing resistance to corrosion that it has been used to fit out centuries of ships for the high seas. This incredible ability is the result of slight surface oxidation, which protects the metal from any further attacks. Bronze acquires a natural and inimitable patina that develops over the years. This year, ANONIMO is unveiling a new composition with a warmer pink hue. By wearing his watch everywhere he goes, each one becomes an artisan, crafting his own timepiece. Its appearance will alter, without affecting the quality of the watch enabling to forge its own identity. Over time, the original gold colour of the bronze acquires a warm, deep and unique patina. MILITARE Collection Created in 2001 by ANONIMO, this model is immediately recognisable thanks to the iconic crown positioned at 12 o clock, inspired by pocket watches. The signature crown articulation and guard system ensures the water-resistance of the winding mechanism. The winding crown is accessed between the horns, and not on the side, making it easier to operate and reducing irritation of the wrist. Its dial has been pared back, and the numerals 12, 04 and 08 are set in a triangle to represent the capital A of ANONIMO. In 2017, the collection was completely redesigned, with the movement visible through a transparent case back. Each dial on MILITARE models is unique. MILITARE Automatic Vintage MILITARE Automatic With its timeless, elegant style, cushion-shaped case, and dial with the iconic triangle display, this vintage model embodies the very soul of the MILITARE. Identical to the original edition, the VINTAGE indication, the red touches on the indexes, and the 24 hour display, have all been reproduced on this delicate eggshell colour dial.
