Rivendell School Uniforms 2018-2019 Rivendell School is a community of students, faculty, staff, and parents dedicated to helping our children explore God s world and discover their place in it. We require our students to wear uniforms to underscore our identity and to create a sense of belonging within community. We are known by our plaid. The wearing of our school uniform also provides a standard for our students that is modest, neat, and appropriate. It contributes to an environment conducive to learning and respectful behavior and eliminates the distractions and competitions that can be created by choice in clothing. Our school has children from diverse backgrounds and diverse ways of expressing their uniqueness. In the uniform, each child is equally attired. Accordingly, all Rivendell students are expected to wear the stipulated uniform, to have it fit with shirts tucked in, and to have their clothing clean and neat. Another noted objective is for our uniform requirements to be affordable for each family attending Rivendell. Accordingly, we provide a uniform exchange closet where many uniform items are available free of charge. In addition, while Lands End, Flynn and O Hara and Educational Outfitters are our official uniform providers and are the standards for our uniform, items from other vendors may be used provided they are of similar style and color as those of Lands End, Flynn and O Hara and Educational Outfitters (unless otherwise specified next to the uniform item). Last, parental involvement is a key Rivendell distinctive. This document is intended to clarify the Rivendell uniform policy and to remind all parents of their partnership role with faculty and staff in supporting Rivendell s mission. Parents are responsible for ensuring that each day their child enters school dressed in a manner that is consistent with this policy. Uniform items may be purchased from any of these vendors unless otherwise specified next to the uniform item. Please note that each vendor sells items that are not part of our uniform. See the Rivendell School page on the vendors websites for styling requirements. Additionally, items may be purchased from other vendors such as Target unless otherwise specified next to the uniform item, and provided the styling and colors are comparable to those found at Lands End, Flynn & O Hara and Educational Outfitters.
