Of pos n brief na Posbus 60130 Vaalpark 1946 Niche Vibe profile Louise Peters - Designer of the year 2011 from Louise Designs. 1. What do you think are your relevant achievements in your career that contributed to you winning this award? I have taken part in other competitions such as the Smirnoff competition whilst studying. I also entered into a Miss Earth designer competition, and also took part in designing unique outfits for various fashion shows. These experiences shaped the way in which I perceive and interpret themes. I have also designed a winning national costume for Hanri van Schalkwyk which she wore at the Miss tourism, model of the world in Tanzania in 2006 She appeared on the front-page cover of the Zimbabwean travel magazine wearing the winning outfit I designed for her, it was quite an achievement for me. 2. What do you consider to be your greatest strength/s as a businesswomen and designer? My greatest strength as a businesswoman and designer is my artistic flair coupled with perfectionism in the design that being an individualist. I also feel that it is my competitive strength in having the ability to combine different fabrics, textures to create new concepts and ideas in design. 3. To what would you ascribe your success? I ascribe my success to the way that I view every person that walks through my door as equally special and important. I strive to give them a unique product that is perfectly designed for them. I don t believe in mass production as providing quality to my client is the upmost importance to me... 4. What challenges did you need to overcome in order to achieve success? In 2005 I was diagnose with SLE. I had to make quite a few adjustments in overcoming this new challenge to be able to continue with my work. My condition changed the way I viewed the world and myself. It made me more dependent and reliant on other people for assistance both in my career and personal life. 5. How did you overcome these challenges to become stepping-stone for you? I had to find someone to work with me who I can trust to do the work the way I prefer it o be done. A lady by the name of Koeksie crossed my path and we have really developed a wonderful working relationship as she has become a source of strength through her understanding and support especially in difficult and trying times. I really believe that we have used our challenges to enable the work team to grow. These challenges also become a stepping-stone for me as other new doors opened up offering different opportunities and possibilities both in my career and personal life. 6. Is there another side to you that most people are unaware of? What do you enjoy doing as a hobby? I love literature, books as I enjoy reading particularly taking in spending quality time by reading storybooks to my four- year old son. I especially take pleasure in finding new storybooks for him. I also enjoy teaching him songs and children s poems as in this way we have all mastered the South African anthem of Nkosi Sikeleli Afrika as well. I appreciate doing things outdoors in nature such as bird watching with my husband, going hiking with my family and visiting the Kruger National Park once a year. 7. What motivates, inspire and makes you tick within your business and life? My faith and trust in God as well as having a supportive network of loving and caring people in my business and life. 8. Who is your role model in your business and life? Both my parents are my role models as we are very close, and they support and encourage me in everything I do in my business and help me with every step of the way I take in my life! 9. How do you balance your business and your personal life? I have a fantastic support system from my family that really helps me to succeed in my business. My studio is at my parent s house and as a result of this convenience my mother helps me with attending to the care and needs of my son. I love what I do and spend a lot of my time in meeting my client s requirements and expectations, especially with special design needs. 10. She says she feels uncomfortable providing such material for the public, but so far Federal courts across the country have ruled that banning the Internet from public institutions or even filtering its contents offends the guarantee of free speech and restricts First Amendment rights Most people of conscience, is morally confounded by technology that links together nearly half a billion people in a Worldwide Web - a global village - allowing instant, anonymous exchange of uncensored text and images. Anyone in this virtual - metropolis can put anything online. Anonymity: Since you can t see the person face-to-face, you have NO guarantee the person you re communicating with is who he / she says they are. For example, a 20-year-old woman looking for a similarly aged man might meet a guy online, only to discover he is 60. Even if you exchange photos with the person, you never know if they are that person s photo. Financial Risk: Scam artists use the online dating ( facebook) realm to gain your trust and eventually try to use that trust or so cold love to gain access to your finances. For example, if a man lives in another country he might ask you to help him with money for his sick child or for a plane ticket by either sending him money or allowing him access to your account. When his has the money, he deletes his profile so you won t be able to find him again. Don't be fooled by anything like this, they make you feel so special - even fall in love. Remember, it is easy to create an e-mail address. One can have at least 5 different e -mail addresses. They can even send you documentation to confirm what they say is true. Investigate all documents. Facebook: Facebook claims it has 400 million users, but are they well-protected from prying eyes, scammer s and unwanted marketers? NOT according to Joan Goodchild, senior editor of CSO (Chief Security Officer) Online. She says your privacy may be at far greater risk of being violated than you know when you log onto Facebook, due to security gaffes or marketing efforts by the company. Facebook came under fire a few weeks ago, when 15 private and consumer protection organizations filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, claiming that the site, among other things, manipulates privacy settings to make users personal information available for commercial use. Also some Facebook users found their private chats accessible to everyone on their contact list - a major security breach that s left a lot of people wondering just how secure the site is. Car show @ Nando s Vanderbijlpark By: Martin Smuts- Vanderbijlpark. The organizers of the car show that was held on 6th May 2012, took advantage of the newly, beautifully renovated Nando s in Vanderbijlpark to host their show. As we all know, a good venue, allot on display, and an incredible vibe will attract allot of attention, which on this day... IT DID. This was a fun day out for car and customizing enthusiasts, with competitions like SPL, Show & shine and glow in the dark, it was jam packed with entertainment. The Nando s was, as always, the best place to go and grab a bite with their famous flame grilled chicken and excellent customer service. Feel free to pop into any Nando s to see what new specials they have on offer. Different makes and models of cars could be seen here, from an old school restored and customized 1980 s escort to cars doing 150db+ with custom car stereo s to a brand new customized BMW 5 series and Renault Megane RS 250 Cup. All the entrants were awarded with a certificate and a trophy to show off their achievements. Overall it was a great day out with friends and family. I m sure there will be many more events like these in the near future.
