Protective clothing against cytostatic contamination Cytostatics UNISEX GOWN / EN13795 Cytostatic drugs are drugs that are used in anti-cancer therapy. These drugs intervene in the biochemical processes of organisms and cells and kill the cancer cells. Because of these toxic effects patients can achieve results in the treatment of their disease. Research has shown that during professional exposure these cytostatic agents can cause health risks to healthy people. About a quarter of the cytostatic drugs used are carcinogenic to humans. Moreover several side-effects such as reduced fertility are reported. Nurses, hospital pharmacy personel, pharmaceutical production staff and researchers are considered as a high-risk group. Ref.
