FROM QUEBEC WITH LOVE Autumn winter 2014/15 Transmit the colors of Quebec through the garment: it is the concept that inspires Isabelle Giroux. She shares with her first collection her love for nature and returns to her Quebec roots, inspired by the great outdoors and her walks along the lake. La belle Province lend each piece a name: Montreal : Where it all begins. Place of birth, discovers the world of design at École supérieure de mode de Montréal Quebec : The space to pace Gaspé : Where the waves break Saint-Constant : The cosy coat of childhood Le Granit : The gem embedded in its jewel Lévis : The holographic line between oats and barley.
Isabelle Giroux creates contemporary silhouette : soft and warm materials overlap and complement each other harmoniously and the shades of pink meet the deep blue in a cheerful serenity. Inspired by her subject, she puts her ideas on paper. The draped bust leads to the drawing of the pattern. Each fabric is selected for its touch to meet the expected effect. Each piece is created by the designer, from design to the final touch. She promotes local collaborations with young photographer, artist or models. Isabelle Giroux style is modern, comfortable and extremely feminine. Fluid and structured cuts are mixed harmoniously. Each piece is essentially crafted in materials of natural fibers of great qualities and is produced in Belgium. Organza, cotton, silk chiffon and wool, bring light and softness to her creations.
Madeleine Vionnet's draping and avant-garde inspires her. Indeed, pioneer in of the bias cut and the art of draping, she has put her genius in the service of women and their well-being. Following a concept or an idea, Isabelle Giroux devotes part of her time to research before transposing her ideas on paper. She wants to introduce in the future the latest technological innovations used in the fashion industry in her collection. Her memories of Quebec and her new life in Belgium have inspired her a lot for this first collection.
Isabelle Giroux develops dynamic and comfortable clothing, combining creativity and expertise. The «Isabelle Giroux» woman is a complex and refined woman, independent and spontaneous. Born in Montreal, 29 years old Canadian fashion designer grew up with her two sisters, thus her twin sister. She already draws at 9 years her first sketches, captivated by fashion magazines. Cégep Marie-Victorin and École supérieure de mode de Montréal opens her the doors of the technic and creativity She discovers a world between art, fashion and technology while working for fashion designer Ying Gao in Montreal. In 2007, she is selected as a finalist to Onward Fashion Grand Prix competition held in Tokyo. The following year, she works as an assistant for Valérie Dumaine in Montreal and Bless in Paris. She won the same year the 1st prize at La Biennale Internationale Du Lin de Portneuf which led her to Brussels. In Brussels, she refines her skills beside David Szeto, who will teach her new draping technics. Passing through Sofie D' Hoore s atelier, Isabelle then collaborate with Marc Philippe Coudeyre. She stands for two consecutive years in the competition Customisez -Moi organized by Bernard Gavilan, whose dynamism encourages young desi gners and gives them the opportunity to make memorable encounters. In 2013, she earn a place in final of "Who s Dressing An Pierlé" comptetion organized by Elle Belgium magazine. It s in September 2013, while working for different houses as freelance, that she decides to launch her own collection of ready-to-wear.
Isabelle cordially invites you to attend ACCESS fashion show at 8pm the 8 th of march, Maison Folie, Mons to discover her collection in a mesmerizing and eclectic atmosphere. A night where sharing and discovery are the words, where art and creativity meet and are the main interests.
