Parents have previously complained about food given to their child backstage. Please respect their rules. The Bradford School of Dance and Aurora High School are not responsible for lost or stolen water bottles, containers, etc. Please label all containers and water bottles. WHAT TO DO/WHERE TO GO FOR STUDENT DROP-OFF Please park in designated parking areas only. Parking in fire routes will result in the delay of show commencement. There is limited parking directly in front of the high school entrance. Please be kind and save these spaces for those who may need to be closer to the entrance. Additional parking is to the south end of the high school. Access to the building will be through the cafetorium entrance (see picture above) the parking lot door will be locked. Once inside, follow the directional arrows that will lead you to your appropriate change room. Check your child in at the entrance of his/her change room. Find your child s class by locating a picture of your child s costume on the change room wall. Once your child is safely in the change room with his/her class and attendance has been noted, parents are asked to leave and return for the performance. Parents are asked not to save seats in the cafetorium for the performance as this has generated many complaints in past years. Opposite gender parents/guardians will not be allowed in the change rooms No observers will be permitted during rehearsal. No parents will be permitted backstage. REHEARSALS NO ACCESS (UP THE STAIRS) ACCESS THROUGH THESE DOORS (DOWN THE STAIRS) WHEELCHAIR ACCESS (DOWN THE RAMP) Rehearsals will take place in regular dance clothes, not in costume. Once all students have checked in and have gathered all of the necessary dance shoes (preferably in a bag), volunteers will escort them to a designated area in the cafetorium. This is a closed rehearsal, all non-essential people will be asked to leave. The rehearsals will be run in order of the recital except for competitive numbers. Competitive numbers will only be rehearsed if time permits. At the conclusion of the rehearsals, volunteers will escort the students back to their change room. Students will then eat their packed dinner, touch-up their hair and make-up and get dressed into their first costume.

RECITAL SEATING The doors to the cafetorium will open no earlier than 30 minutes prior to each show. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. If you do not want/require a program, please do not take one at the door. If you opt to take a program, please take it home with you as a souvenir of your child s special day. We ask that you do not leave your program on your chair or on the floor in the auditorium at the end of the performance. If there is anyone in your party with special needs (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.), please inform us a minimum of two weeks prior to the performance so accommodation can be made. An usher will be available to help you to your seats. PHOTOGRAPHY AND PERFORMANCE RECORDING For the safety of the performers, flash photography is not permitted during the shows. V & H Event Photography will be professionally recording all shows and will combine them onto one DVD which will include behind the scenes footage. This video makes a great keepsake that your child will watch over and over. To purchase your copy please complete and submit an order form at the office with cash or cheque payable to V & H Event Photography by May 11, 2017. Order before the show to save $5 on your DVD purchase. If you would like to order the DVD after the show, you will be required to contact V & H Event Photography directly. RE-ENTRY AUDIENCE COMFORT To avoid distracting the performers and fellow audience members, we ask that you remain in your seat for the duration of each performance. Take a moment to switch off all cell phones prior to the show. Avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes as many people have scent sensitivities and allergies. Please DO NOT TALK during the performance as it is a distraction to the performers and other audience members. Kindly be respectful of others around you. Do not have your child sitting on your lap during the show. This makes it extremely difficult for the person(s) sitting behind you to view the show. It is recommended to bring a booster seat for younger children. If your younger children have difficulties sitting still for longer periods of time, consider alternate arrangements for this day. As with any large gathering of people in one room, the temperature may fluctuate during the performance. Please dress in layers. It may be hot or cold. The Bradford School of Dance is not responsible for climate control at Aurora High School. DEPARTURE After the curtains close, please give the students 10-15 minutes to return to the change room to gather their belongings before you head back to get them. We ask that only one parent/guardian retrieve your child from the change room, collect his/her belongings and sign out with the class/room volunteer. We would like to remind you again that opposite gender parents/guardians will not be allowed in the change rooms. We respectfully ask that male guardians designate a female to pick up female dancers and in turn that female guardians designate a male to pick up male dancers. We also ask that you take a moment to pick up any waste/litter that may have accumulated in your area.
