1 Press Release From 12th of July to 30th of September 2018, MAD Brussels Fashion and Design Platform - will present the exhibition UNcovered, the first personal project by the internationally renowned Belgian fashion photographer and director: Pierre Debusschere. Pierre Debusschere has mesmerised the fashion industry since the end of his studies when first started photographing and filming backstage at fashion shows in Paris and London. His offbeat look and the experimental digital techniques got him noticed. Since then, he has shot editorials for numerous international fashion magazines such as Vogue Italia, Dazed & Confused, AnOther Magazine, 032C, Document, etc., and has worked with top brands: Raf Simons, Delvaux, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Adidas, Nike, He also created two video clips for Beyoncé and Alicia Keys. Pierre Debusschere has been represented by the New York agency Art+Commerce since 2012. In 2017, together with Rebecca Cuglietta, he co-founded the creative studio 254Forest (www.254forest.be). The UNcovered exhibition is his first extensive exhibition that includes a preview of a new film and 90 unpublished photographs: a series of images in which the body is used as a pictorial and emotional material. A substance devoid of anything artificial only connected by means of texture, sound and space. Subjects are put in front of the camera and are the only ones to decide what they want to reveal, in this interconnected narrative that invites its audience to explore and indulge the different layers of interpretation. The exhibition explores the question of uncovering, intimacy and protection. For the Icons series, 60 unique, handmade frames made from found pieces of wood have been created in collaboration with the designer Renaud Meunier, a resident at MAD LAB the talent incubator and laboratory for research and development at MAD. The complete series of photographs will be included in a book printed and distributed by the Brussels publishing house, Triangle Books, and will be released at the exhibition second opening on September 7th at MAD. If desired, visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase the photographs shown in the exhibition. After its initial showing at MAD, the UNcovered exhibition will surely travel to various international arts centres. As a place of experimentation and innovation in the fashion and design sectors, this year, MAD will be exploring the ambiguous borders between art and fashion. #UNcoveredexpo

3 UNcovered: Solo Exhibition by Pierre Debusschere The UNcovered exhibition is his first personal project that includes a preview of a new film and 90 unpublished photographs. The images use the human body as a visual and emotional subject: freed from affectations, simple and natural in relation to textures, sounds and space. The exhibition addresses themes of intimacy, protection, and uncovering. The subject of each image possesses the power to hold your attention, arousing interest in the range of possible interpretations. Installation concept The film is projected onto a screen that is hung in the air, parallel to the ceiling. The screen covers the spectator, as if he or she were watching the painted ceiling of a chapel. By choosing to expand your mind and surrender to the imagery, you ll immerse yourself fully and live the whole experience. The soundtrack made especially for the film carries you even deeper, interacting with the body through sound. The photographs are shown in frames and are arranged on different walls: The Icons A series of 60 single-edition images referring to religious icons A series of six portraits 12 medium format images 10 large format images Hand crafted from recovered pieces of wood, sixty unique frames were made for The Icons series in collaboration with designer Renaud Meunier. Meunier is resident at MAD LAB research and development lab and MAD talent center. All photographs in the exhibition will be collected in a printed volume. The book will be distributed by Brussels publishing house Triangle Books, and will be released at the exhibition second opening on September 7th at MAD. Following its first exhibition at MAD, the UNcovered project will travel to various international venues and exhibition spaces. The film and photos were produced at 254Forest studio. 254Forest is a creative space in Saint-Gilles.
