BASIC TECHNICAL FACTS SUPER SOFT COTTON VISCOSE FLEECE LINING ADJUSTABLE COTTON LACES MADE IN EUROPE HANDMADE DANISH DESIGN 80% NATURAL RUBBER LIGHTWEIGHT HEAT-INSULATING EVA SOLES RAIN37 Col: / RUB1 Col: Our handmade rain boots can withstand even the hardest torrential downpour. The boots are made of 80% natural rubber, harvested from some of the most well known plantations in countries like Malaysia and Vietnam. We use only a small amount of modifiers and fillers, which are all controlled and adjusted to fulfil the highest standards. Our rain boots are handmade and made of more than 28 different parts. The insulating EVA soles are made to resist temperatures from -40C to + 40C. If the rain boots are subjected to higher temperatures, the vulcanisation that bonds the 28 parts of the boot degrades, compromising the waterproof effect of the boot. Our warranty does not cover rain boots that have been subjected to temperatures over +40 degrees celcius and under -40 degrees celcius. The tread pattern construction of the EVA outsoles gives the rain boots a good grip. In addition to this, we have lined the boots with a warm inner sole, made of 60% viscose and 40% cotton. The unique inner lining is made of high quality yarn and the spinning and carding process gives this textile a very unique ventilation capacity. EVA is Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, which is a chemical categorisation for the specific insolating, flexible and weather resistant foam rubber. Our laces are 100% cotton, and can be adjusted to fit your legs perfectly. Standard laboratory testing define the performance of these materials. All rubber parts should be treated with our special RUB oil and other textile or leather parts should be treated with correct protection spray. 14 15

BASIC TECHNICAL FACTS Technical label Waterproof and breathable membrane A waterproof membrane is a thin layer placed between shell fabric and bonding that has lots of microscopic pores, which are big enough to allow water vapour (sweat) to be released, but small enough to stop water droplets getting in. TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) membrane is our preferred choice for our RAIN selection. Water Pressure = W/P Waterproof/breathable fabrics resist liquid water passing through, but allow water vapour to pass through. Their ability to block out rain and snow while allowing vapour from sweat to evaporate makes them ideal to use in the rain. Standard laboratory testing defines the performance of these fabrics. Water resistance is measured by the amount of water preasure (in mm) a fabric can withstand before water seeps through. This is of course supported by taping and welding that closes the stitch holes of the garment. Breathability = M/P Breathability is measured by the amount of vapour (in g) that can pass through a square meter of fabric during a 24-hour period. HORNBÆK are continuously working towards a more sustainable production. As part of this ongoing process, we have integrated ecorepel coating in our entire RAIN softshell collection, thus eliminating the use of fluorocarbons. The ecorepel hangtag What is ecorepel? ecorepel is a new finishing technology that ensures a high level of water and dirt repellence on textiles. The technology is environmentally sound, free from fluorocarbons and biodegradable. What are the benefits of ecorepel? With the ecorepel finish, fabrics acquire a very high level of water and dirt repellence (watery dirt). In addition, thanks to the high level of abrasion resistance, the finish is permanently retained, even with heavy-duty use and following frequent washing. ecorepel is also very environmentally sound, as the textile finish is biodegradable and free from fluorocarbons. Double welding technology What kind of care do our RAIN products with ecorepel require? Our raincoats with ecorepel finish can be washed without difficulty in a washing machine. The finish can withstand at least 30 washes at 40 C. Even after considerable use and frequent washing, the finish remains permanently active. After washing, the function can be reactivated by tumbledrying. Therefore, use of textile waterproofing chemicals are not necessary. Are our raincoats with ecorepel technology breathable? Yes. The breathability is retained as the paraffin chains wrap themselves around the individual fibres. The fibre interspaces are retained, and breathability therefore remains intact. Is ecorepel biodegradable? Yes, ecorepel is 80 100 % biodegradable in accordance with OECD 302 B. Substances that meet this standard are considered fundamentally biodegradable. Is ecorepel fluorocarbon-free? Yes, ecorepel is completely free of fluorocarbons and PFC, as it is manufactured on the basis of paraffins. Welding technics on seams Heat fusion, also called heat welding, is a welding process used to join two different pieces of a thermoplastic - in our case, PU. This process involves heating both pattern parts simultaneously and pressing them together, by pressing a shaped welding form on top of the two fabric parts. A two-way solution is selected to improve performance and reduce strain on the bottom end of the zipper.
