Age of Participants 4-H Age 2. Participation Guidelines: All participants will take part in the judging and fashion revue indicated for their class. Counties may select one individual to participate in each class, J-1 through J-20. Participants must be enrolled in and have completed the project in which they are enrolled as listed in the 2016 Family Guide to 4-H. Note: It is unethical and strictly prohibited for members to switch from one project to another after completing the project in order to participate at the State Fair Fashion Revue. 4-H ers who take more than one clothing project must complete separate learning experiences related to each, including creating a separate, complete, total look outfit FOR EACH PROJECT. (e.g. A top made for one project cannot be used in another project.) Individuals may participate in both one morning and one afternoon class. The Clock Trophy winner of any class prior to this year is not eligible to participate in the same class for this year. Judging and fashion revue will be held in the Rhodes Center Auditorium on the Ohio State Fairgrounds. (The Rhodes Center is the 2nd large building on your right after entering the fairgrounds from the north parking lot.) 3. 4-H Fashion Revue Evaluation and Registration: (Please read before coming to judging) Participants will take part in the project judging circle and have an interview with a judge. Judges will evaluate on your knowledge, skill and understanding related to your project. The judges will be using the criteria on the score sheet. (see sample score sheet) Registration takes place in the PROJECT JUDGING CIRCLE. Participants should be dressed in the outfit they made or assembled according to the guidelines and information in their project book. Dressing rooms will be available from 8 am to 6 pm. Dressing rooms are locked at 6 pm. As you enter the Rhodes Center, the dressing rooms are at the end of the hallway on the right. Bring the following to registration in the project judging circle. o Registration material provided by your County 4-H Youth Development Educator. o Completed Style Revue Narration Card. Complete only side A or B, which ever applies to your project. o Completed Project Book Pattern and Guide sheet (if used) and records to help explain project accomplishments to the judge. o If nominated by your county for one of the special awards, bring completed Ohio 4-H Clothing Achievement Record plus photo in 2016 4-H total look outfit.

OHIO STATE FAIR CLOTHING AWARDS AND SPONSORS 1. Each participant will receive a participation ribbon, sponsored by the Ohio State Fair. 2. Daily Outstanding of the Day ribbons, sponsored by the Ohio State Fair, will be given to the top 20% of the class. 3. One overall clock trophy will be presented to the winner in each class immediately following the Thursday afternoon Fashion Revue. Trophies are sponsored by: Norma Pitts, Extension Clothing Specialist, Emeriti, and The Ohio Township Association. Daily Awards: Pork Suede Award: Participants who do an outstanding job in using Pork Products in their garments will be eligible to receive an award from the Ohio Pork Schop. Wool Award: Participants who do an outstanding job in using 100% Wool or Wool blend (minimum 60% wool or specialty wool fiber) in their garments will be eligible to receive an award from the Ohio Sheep & Wool Program, the Ohio Sheep Association and Ohio Make it Yourself with Wool. Mohair Award: Participants who do an outstanding job in using Mohair in their garments will be eligible to receive an award from Callan Cattle Company, Newark, Ohio. Special Awards: The judges will make the final selections. SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR AWARDS requiring county nominations. Counties may nominate only one individual per award. Nominees cannot be considered for multiple awards. Award winners cannot win any award more than once in their 4-H career. Applicants must present a completed Ohio 4-H Clothing Achievement Record with an accompanying photo of the participant in their 2016 4-H total look outfit when registering in their project judging circle. During the week of 4-H Fashion Revue, a daily finalist will be selected with the winner of each award being announced immediately following the Thursday afternoon Fashion Revue. 1. LLOYD AND DORIS ROBY 4-H CLOTHING PROGRAM AWARD: ($500 cash award to be applied to college tuition or other career development opportunities) Each county may nominate one individual. Nominees must be at least a junior in high school as of January 1, 2016. Selection is based on overall outstanding achievement in 4-H clothing and evidence of leadership skills throughout their involvement in the 4-H program. A finalist will be selected daily and announced at the end of the afternoon Fashion Revue. The overall winner will be announced immediately following the Thursday afternoon Fashion Revue. 2. OHIO 4-H FASHION REVUE AWARD: (Award and sponsor to be announced) Each county may nominate one individual. Nominee must be enrolled in one of the clothing construction projects (J-1, J-2, J-5, J-7, J-8 & J-10 through J-20). Nominees must complete Ohio 4-H Clothing Achievement Record with a photo of the participant in their 2016 4-H total look outfit. Turn in at registration. All nominees that are chosen as State Fair Outstanding of the Day winners will be considered in the selection of this award. Selection is based on how well the nominee achieves the total look and overall outstanding achievement in 4-H clothing. A finalist will be selected daily and announced at the end of the afternoon Fashion Revue. The overall winner will be announced immediately following the Thursday afternoon Fashion Revue. 3. MASTER CLOTHING EDUCATORS OF OHIO AWARD (Pending availability of funding for 2016) Senior Category (age 16 & up) Junior category (age 12-15) as of January 1, 2016. Each county may nominate one individual in each category. A cash award (amount announced yearly) to be applied to college tuition or other career development opportunities. Nominees must complete Ohio 4-H Clothing Achievement Record with a photo of the participant in their 2016 4-H total look outfit. Turn in at registration. All nominees that are chosen as State Fair Outstanding of the Day winners will be considered in the selection of this award. State Fair Fashion Revue Project Guidelines J-1 SEW FOR OTHERS: It is desirable, but not required, for the other to be present to show an outfit you made at the judging and Fashion Revue. If the other cannot be present, simply bring the garment you made to show the judge and to exhibit in the Fashion Revue. We limit the number of others and outfits to no more than one other outfit per entrant. Choose one outfit that best represents your work to bring to the State Fair. (If the project is repeated for multiple years, a new category of other must be selected.) J-2 FUN WITH CLOTHES: Wear your decorated t-shirt or sweatshirt with the completed outfit you assembled for a total look. J-3 & J-4 SHOPPING SAVVY: Junior and Senior: You will want to be dressed in a total look outfit assembled according to the information in your project to convey the image you wish to project to the audience and judges. However, you will be judged on mastery of the project book rather than the outfit worn unless the outfit was put together to complete an activity within the project. J-5 CREATIVE COSTUMES: Wear the costume you made for yourself. You will be judged on the mastery of the project book in addition to the garment constructed. (If the project is repeated for multiple years, a new costume category must be selected.) J-6 ACCESSORIES FOR TEENS: Wear at least one accessory you made with the outfit for which it was designed. J-7 CLOTHING FOR YOUR CAREER: Wear the outfit you made. The outfit should have at least 2 pieces, appropriate for the job, work or an interview (suit, uniform or work outfit). J-8 SEW FUN: Wear the garment you made using an easy or beginner pattern (skirt, shorts, pants, or capris with a full elastic waistline). J-9 LOOK GREAT FOR LESS: Wear the total look outfit you put together as inexpensively as possible. The total look includes clothing, accessories, jewelry, shoes, etc. It is acceptable to use an item or two from those you already own, but remember this is a shopping project and the majority of your total look should be items purchased using skills you ve learned while doing this project. J-10 em*bel*lish: Bring the previously made garment or ready-to-wear garment selected from your wardrobe or a ready-to-wear garment that you embellished. Select other garments and accessories for a total look outfit. Bring completed activities, Talking it Over pages and completed notebook with at least 3 samples of embellishment techniques you tried, including the technique you used on the garment you selected. J-11 SUNDRESS/JUMPER: Wear the sundress or jumper you constructed with accessories for the total look. J-12 TOPS FOR TWEENS: Wear the top you constructed with accessories for the total look. J-13 CLOTHING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL: Wear the garment you constructed (garment with sleeves or a two-piece garment) and accessories for the total look. J-14 CLOTHING FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE: Wear the garment you constructed (minimum of two pieces or a one-piece garment with sleeves plus some other style detail not tried before). J-15 LOUNGEWEAR: Wear the outer layer of an outfit you constructed for lounging (usually at home before bedtime) and accessories for the total look. J-16 ACTIVE SPORTSWEAR: Wear the garment you constructed for active sports. Each county is invited to nominate one 4-H clothing member for each year s Fashion Board. Approximately 20 teens are selected for a one-year term. The State 4-H Fashion Board is the small group of outstanding 4-H teen textiles and clothing members selected from across the state. To assist in conducting the State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue, 4-H clothing workshop sessions, and other events. To promote the Ohio 4-H clothing projects and programs. The State 4-H Fashion Board meets face-to-face approximately four to five times during the year. A fall orientation meeting will be held to review the roles and responsibilities of State Fashion Board members. To develop plans for educational programs throughout the upcoming year. (September/October) A winter meeting will be held to recognize retiring members (15/16) and evaluate the 2016 Ohio State 4-H Fashion Revue, and to finalize plans for 2017 educational program offerings the group may decide to conduct. Participation in the Ohio 4-H Conference. A summer meeting to identify a theme, make plans and divide assignments for the Ohio State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue.
