School Uniform Guide Uniform has continued to be a recurring issue with a small number of students and whilst the vast majority of our students wear the uniform well and follow the code, some do not. Effective teaching and learning needs proper organisation, and this starts with a smart and tidy appearance which helps to instil discipline and pride in appearance in students, and reduces the risk of distraction in lessons. The standard uniform is as follows: Boys White School Polo Shirt with Logo Navy Blue formal cut Trousers/ Navy Blue Capri Shorts School Jumper/Pullover Shoes of any plain colour. Brand logo is acceptable but no additional decoration. No high heels, backless/open-toe shoes or wedges are permitted. They must be plain and look smart (without colored laces, studs or excessive zippers). If in doubt, please check with the school P.E school Kit including navy blue school shorts are required to be worn for PE only. Short tidy hair No Jewelry is to be worn at any time other than a wristwatch. 1 pair of earrings, 1 necklace, 1 wristwatch. No bangles or bracelets. Girls White School Polo Shirt with Logo Navy Blue formal cut Trousers/ Navy Blue Skorts/Navy Blue Capri Shorts School Jumper/Pullover Shoes of any plain colour. Tidy hair, tied back if it is long No Jewelry is to be worn at any time other than a wristwatch. 1 pair of earrings, 1 necklace, 1 wristwatch. No bangles or bracelets.

With the exception of earrings, any other body piercing and tattoos should not be visible. With the exception of earrings, any other body piercing and tattoos should not be visible. Clean Shaven No make-up is to be worn at any time. This includes coloured nail varnish. Nails must be short. The school uniform should be worn by all students in Key Stage 3 and 4. Students who are without the correct school uniform will be dealt with as described in the Behaviour Policy and may be sent home to change. The school jumper is part of uniform and can be used during winter season as well. We encourage students to bring extra jackets and to use them on their way to school, during breaks and outdoor activities. They are not allowed to use them during lessons time. Trousers should be of an appropriate style for school, they should not be too tight and they must not be of a jeans style. They must be dark navy blue.

New uniform options for this year include capri shorts and skorts. All of these items are easily available in shops and stores within Bucharest or via the internet. Please do ensure, before purchasing new school clothes for next year, that they conform to the uniform policy to avoid you wasting money. Of course, trousers may be bought from the school shop if you prefer. ISB 6 TH Form Dress Code In recognition of their growing maturity and independence, there is no uniform requirement for Sixth Form students at the International School of Bucharest. Instead, we ask that both boys and girls wear business dresses. This is intended to strike a balance between individuality and the need to effectively represent the School in the local community. At the International School of Bucharest, we believe that all Sixth Form students should take pride in their appearance. Smart dressing conveys positive feelings in terms of commitment and attitude to work and it also enables students to show that they fully embrace our school ethos. Students would do well to ask themselves before leaving the house each morning, Would I go to a job interview dressed like this? Sixth Form students are role models for younger pupils. We are counting on their cooperation to send the right messages and encourage positive attitudes in the lower school. This is a short list of what we would like our Sixth Form students to wear: Male students Female students A smart business suit navy blue, black, charcoal grey or any other dark colour. A blazer/ tailored jacket with co-coordinating trousers may also be worn. A smart business suit - navy blue, black, charcoal grey or any other dark colour. The business suit is OPTIONAL.

Belts are to be plain, regular width and designed to hold up trousers not just a fashion accessory.

Girls shoulders should be covered at all times. Clothing that is too revealing or likely to cause embarrassment must be avoided. If in doubt, the Head of 6 th Form should be contacted prior to any purchase to confirm the suitability of any items. Examples of dress code items can be in the 6th form dress code policy. SANCTIONS The following sanctions will be applied if a student is deemed inappropriately dressed for school. All members of staff may issue a cause for concern about the way a Sixth Form student is dressed at any point in the school day. Student dress will be checked in the morning before school starts, at the start of each lesson and during Form Time. 1 st & 2 nd occasions - It will be recorded on EDUCARE for the student s school record by entering a negative comment and in most cases the student will be required to return home and change. On that day the student will be required to buy the school uniform or go home to change into school uniform. Parents will be notified. The non-uniform is a privilege and may be removed if abused.

Please note that the same dress code applies when students sit examinations and when they are on any school visit or represent ISB at different events, unless it is mentioned by the Head of 6 th Form that the students can wear something else.
