2018-2019 UNIFORM POLICY At St. Joseph School we intentionally create an environment which is based around Gospel values and which holds each person with dignity and respect. Our policies regarding the school uniform and modest dress help foster this environment. It is also true that people give the most energy and care to the areas of their life which are important to them. When we take pride in what we wear, and at St. Joseph School that is the uniform, it says that we are proud to be here. When we care about how we look, it means we take pride in ourselves. Therefore, modest dress and the school uniform are issues in which we place great importance. The St. Joseph School monogram cross is a symbol of the foundation of our school. It will act as a daily reminder for us to serve one another as followers of Christ in all that we do and say. Each student has the responsibility to be in complete school uniform at all times during the school day. Students who are not in the correct uniform will receive a verbal warning for the first offense. The second offense will be a written warning. After the second warning, all others will be a lunch detention. Students with shirts that are not tucked in will receive warnings. Continued occurrences will result in detention. OTHER ITEMS ST. JOSEPH SPIRIT WEAR Students may wear Maverick Spirit shirts/blouses; Boy/Girl Scout Uniforms. May only be worn on approved spirit or meeting days. HAIR Hair is to be kept neat and tidy. No hair in the eyes. Unnatural/distracting hair colors are not acceptable. Excessive fad haircuts or styles are not allowed. Boys' hair should not exceed the collar or be in the eyes. No permanent affixed hair ornaments. MAKE-UP Girls in grades 6-8 are permitted to wear light make-up. Only clear nail polish may be worn in grades K-5. Light colored nail polish is acceptable in 6-8, No extreme or dark colors and no glitter nail polishes JEWELRY Simple chains w/ Christian symbols in grades K-8 are acceptable. Girls may wear one earring per ear. Earrings not to exceed 1 in length. Boys may not wear earrings. No distracting jewelry No more than two (2) bracelets per wrist No body parts may be pierced.
