Sand again when dry and wipe away sanding dust with a damp cloth. Basecoat the surface with Colonial Blue. Transfer the main pattern lines and basecoat as follows: Mocha Santa s face Neutral Grey hair, beard, mustache Jade Green undercoat Santa s hat & suit Tomato Red Santa s hat & suit Milk Chocolate fur areas Lamp Black mitten Oyster Beige snowman Foliage Green snowman s scarf (wide stripes are Tomato Red, lines are Leaf Green) PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS Santa Shade Santa s face under the hat and above the nose with Dried Clay. Blush the cheeks and bottom of the nose with Wild Berry (2 times on the cheeks, once on the nose). Highlight the eye area and top of the nose with Sugared Peach. The eyes are Lamp Black. Eyebrows are Warm White. Add small highlight dots to the eyes and top of the cheeks with Warm White. Shade the hat above the fur, around the top and down the right side of the tail and above the ball with Antique Maroon. Highlight the center of the hat and left side of the tail with Fiery Red. Shade the suit around the beard, against the sleeves, on the sleeves against the cuff, down both sides and around the snowman with Antique Maroon. Highlight the open areas on the suit with Fiery Red. Stroke the hair and beard with thinned Oyster Beige using the 1/4 inch Filbert Comb. Repeat using Warm White. Line the mustache with Warm White. Allow to dry well then shade the hair under the hat and above the mustache, center of the mustache and under the mustache with Graphite. Overstroke the mustache with Warm White to break up the shade line. Stipple the fur areas with Cocoa and then with Buttermilk. Shade both sides of the hat fur, bottom of the ball and where the tail enters it, and the sleeve cuffs around the snowman with Asphaltum. Stipple the center of these areas with a little Warm White to highlight. Outline as desired with Lamp Black. 2 artistsclub.com
Snowman Shade the bottom of the snowman s head, under the scarf and both sides of the body and bottom of the body with Victorian Blue. Stipple the snowman with Warm White. Start at the top of the head and center of the body where you want it the brightest. Stipple the snow mound at the bottom with Warm White as well. Shade the snow mound with Victorian Blue and then float Warm White on the top of the snow mounds to brighten. Blush the cheeks with Wild Berry. Base the nose with Persimmon. Shade the base of the nose with Antique Maroon and highlight the tip with Fiery Red. The eyes and mouth rocks are Lamp Black. Add small Warm White dots to highlight the eyes, top of the cheeks and a couple of the mouth rocks. Shade the scarf on both sides, against the tie, and both sides of the ties with Leaf Green. Highlight the center of the green areas with Margarita and the center of the red stirpes with Fiery Red. Outline as desired with Lamp Black. FINISHING Finish with DecoArt Dura Clear Soft Touch Varnish. When dry, add a fabric scrap bow if desired. artistsclub.com 3
