For our first collaboration, there was no question that we had to work with Humza Deas. Humza is a renowned street photographer and part of a new generation of explorers who scale buildings and more to share their daring views of the city with the world. We partnered with Humza to create the new modern classic, the Humzilla sock. The pattern abstracts an angled view of the city from the photographer s favorite perspective: Above it all.
HOW TO WEAR SOCKS WITH FLAIR HOW TO WEAR SOCKS WITH FLAIR A bold pair of socks is the quickest and easiest way to show some sartorial personality and stand out from the crowd without going overboard. Socks are the most versatile accessory for men because you can expose them when you want to, and hide them when you don t, says Cody. CASUAL CONVERSATION STARTER For Casual Friday or going out at the weekend, go bold. Turn up your jeans and chinos and flash an extra inch or two of colorful cotton. You could even take things further, like Sage does. I wear two different socks at all times and roll up my pants to show them off, he says. People comment on it all the time. GOING SOCKLESS MAKES NO SENSE PULL YOUR SOCKS UP There has been a trend in the last few years for wearing shoes without socks especially in the summer but this doesn t make practical sense, says Sage. Socks protect your feet from blisters and abrasions and also wick away perspiration which means less foot odour. YOUR ANKLES CAN ANCHOR YOUR LOOK If you have to wear a suit to work or to a special occasion, echo the color of your tie or your pocket square with your socks. Or work with shades of the same color for example, bright purple socks with a more muted lilac shirt. This kind of considered coordination makes you look more put together and will liven up your outfit. CHOOSE THE RIGHT PAIR FOR THE OCCASION It ought to go without saying that if you spot a hole in the toe or if the heel is threadbare, throw the pair out. It s embarrassing if, for example, you go to the gym or to someone s house where you will have to remove your shoes. Ace & Everett socks are made from supima cotton which is more durable and means they will last for longer than your average socks. KNOW WHEN TO FOLD EM If you ball your socks, you will weaken the elasticity of the calf band. Fold pairs together in your sock drawer and stand them up so that they look like the spines of books in a book shelf. This way you can see the full array of your selection at any one time. A man ought to have at least 15-20 pairs in rotation, says Cody. Dan Rookwood, Men s Style Editor In more formal environments business meetings, funerals, black tie events bright socks might not be the way to go. In which case stick to pairs which are predominantly a safer color such as black, grey, or navy. Doesn t mean you can t flash some interesting pattern though. 20 21
