DUODORANT CLOWN COMPANY DuoDorant, New Clown Company, is composed by actors Giuseppe Vetti and Salvatore Caggiari. Trained by the great Jango Edwards, master and undisputed renewer of the clown tradition, the met in the company Fool s Militia, directed by Jango and Peter Ercolano, at the Social Forum of Barcelona in 2004. After this intense experience, once back in Italy, they decided to join forces for a specific project which came to light in December 2006, birthday of the company and their first exhibition: Über-Marionetten. Flights of fancy, studying one s own humanity, laughing at oneself, putting under discussion habits and everyday routine, wondering, laughing and relieving stress, exorcing monsters and common fears. This is the main aim of the project. From an artistic point of view, the company uses clowning as the main tool to interact with the audience through a simple language; not the one of rationality, but but the one of emotions. Their target is a direct, personal and spontaneous relationship with the audience. There is no wall, no barrier between the public and the performer. Sharing is the main feature of DuoDorant study: is there any collective emotion more contagious than laughter? DuoDorant s intention is no to preserve the clown while renovating its clothes, trying to release the clown role from dangerous clichés which turned the character of the clown into a jester, an advertising icon, a baby sitter, Knowledge and skills of this ancient trade were once secretly passed down from father to son, while nowdays the clown community is well aware of being part of a big family and carrier of a profession which can be passed down, and in turn preserved by others. SALVATORE CAGGIARI Class of 1976. From 1997 to 2004 he works in theatre with the company istrio, in Formia, working as an actor, costumer and scenographer. His career as a clown starts in 1998 with Tango Misery, directed by Jango Edwards, and with this show he participates in several international festivals. He enters the Fool s Militia in 2004, where he meets Giuseppe Vetti. In 2004 Salvatore founds the company Vaffanclown and stages the show Vaffanclown vol. 1. December 2006: birthday of the company DuoDorant, composed by Salvatore Caggiari and Giuseppe Vetti. A comic company specialized in nouveau clown and still currently operating. Salvatore Caggiari graduated in scenography at Academy of Arts of Rome, and is a teacher of scenography for the theatre association Bertold Brecht of Formia GIUSEPPE VETTI Class of 1980. In 2004 he enters the clown company Fool s Militia in Barcelona directed by Jango Edwards, performing shows in Barcelona, Tenerife, Rome and carrying out long distance collaborations, In 2006 Giuseppe dedicates himself to variety shows, entering the Company Lo Stabile della Luna of Bologna, where he presented comic variety shows for two consecutive seasons. Since the creations of the company DuoDorant (December 2006), all creative and work energies have been increasingly concentrated on the duo. In March 2008 Giuseppe Graduates in Philosophy and moves to Turin. Collaborations with companies abroad start in September 2010: Giuseppe Vetti gets a part as main character in the show Royal Air Farce of the French company Brame de l Escargot in Bonneville.
