2 Spring Summer 2016 For Spring Summer 2016 Christopher Ræburn takes inspiration from the maverick anthropologist Tom Harrison and his aptly named biography The Most Offending Soul Alive. Harrison transcended cultural and geographic boundaries and defied convention, dividing opinions along the way; despite being quintessentially English he devoted his life to studying and preserving the environment and culture of. Eventually recruited by the British army, Harrison was parachuted in during the Second World War to persuade local tribes to support friendly forces. The unique military history and clash of cultures represented by Harrison was the starting point for a collection simply named after the country in which he made his home,. The theme of jungle survival runs throughout; reclaimed military surplus including air break para chutes, sleeping bags, workwear denim, and bivouac canopies are deconstru cted and meticulously Remade into signature outerwear; however this collection also marks the most resolved manifestation of Ræburn s unique approach to design with Remade styles featuring across every category. The body painting and textiles patterns of the Sarawak tribes of are referenced in fine gauge cotton knitwear and jersey styles. Unexpected materials such as cork have been woven into standout backpacks and used in panels on outerwear, alluding to the natural resources and weaving techniques used by the tribal communities. Harrison s beloved Orangutan provides a fitting seasonal mascot and can be seen swinging across sweaters and t-shirts in prints and flocked heat transfer patches developed with Avery Dennison RBIS.
