They received the award for their wonderful work on the See-saw APP and all the great learning activities they have been sharing with Miss Gray and their families. It s important we keep the children safe and remember to be good role models for them even when we are feeling annoyed! Reminder: Our Assembly has been moved to Friday next week, so it won t interfere with the photographs. Looking forward to seeing our Cockatoo s familiies there! Reconciliation The Year 1 Possums have been discussing the term 'Reconciliation' and creating artworks and pieces of writing based around that. The Year 3/4 Rosellas came down to share their understanding of reconciliation with the Year 1 Possums. It is important for students to have discussions, share ideas and learn from one another and all of the students involved learnt something! The photos are of the Possums and Rosellas in the classroom together and the little artworks the Possums created from magazine clippings.
We participated in the Pauline McLeod exhibition (Charlie M, Tilda, Eva Asha). The photo is of Asha who got a highly commended award and her artwork at the exhibition.

CONCERT BAND - RYDE EAST FESTIVAL On Sunday the Concert Band played at the Ryde East Festival. The performed really well and put in an amazing effort, as did all the parents for getting them there... Considering they only started playing The Avengers a couple of weeks ago they really pulled it out of the hat on the day with a very strong performance. There was particularly strong competition this year in our category and everyone should feel very pleased with their efforts. Thanks to our conductor extraordinaire, Rod, for his enthusiasm and professionalism on the day and to Paul Angus for wrangling the troops on the day. SOLO SOIREE Each year Birchgrove Music proudly hosts the Solo Soiree, a relaxed afternoon concert in the school hall where students have the chance to perform individually or in a duet in front of their family and friends. This year it will be held on Sunday 17th of June around 2-4pm. There is no fee and it is a great opportunity for young musicians to perform in a safe and supportive environment and build up their performance confidence. They can play a piece that they have been practicing with their tutor or something they've always wanted to try. The only requirements are that the piece be no longer than 2-3 mins and that it is not something they are playing with their Birchgrove ensembles. All levels are welcome. To register please contact phoebejeebe@hotmail.com with your child's name, instrument, plus name and composer of the piece they would like to perform. Open to all - you don't have to be part of the current music program to perform. MUSIC COMMITTEE MEETING 7pm Staffroom, next Tuesday 5th June. All welcome, come along and be part of something wonderful. A great bunch of people who support a valuable asset of our school's culture. No musical experience required, no need to have a formal role.
