Differences between Male and Female Skin Male and female skin differ structurally in significant physiological aspects: 1. Thickness Male skin is about 25 percent thicker than that of a woman s. A man s skin thins gradually with age, whereas a woman s skin thickness remains constant until about mid 40s; after menopause female skin will thin at a significant rate. 2. Collagen Men have a higher collagen density than women. Because of this naturally occurring collagen density difference, it is more common for women to show premature age signs faster than men even though they are of the same age. 3. Sebum Men have larger pores and produce more sebum. Problem-prone skin such as breakouts, clogged pores, blackheads and as well as seborrheic dermatitis cases can be more exacerbated and last longer in male skin due to higher sebum levels. Unlike women, for male skin the sebum production remains the same throughout their life and does not decrease with age. 4. Texture Male skin texture is different than that of a woman's. THE ANTI AGING PROFESSIONAL PROTOCOL 1 - INITIAL CLEANSING Cleanse with CLEANSER, massage onto moist skin for 2-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Pat dry skin. 2 - INITIAL CLEANSING COMPLETION Drip ALPHA-BETA WITH RETINOL PREPPING LOTION onto a cotton ball and wipe over skin. Wait 2 minutes to absorb. 3 - FIRST PEELING Pour 5 ml ANTI AGE PEEL into a cosmetic bowl and apply to skin with a cosmetic brush. Wait 10 minutes and rinse with water. Pat dry skin. Note: During the application and removal of the peel, the client might experience light redness and stinging. This is temporary and will disappear once treatment is completed. It is recommended to prepare the client before aplying the product. 4 - SECOND PEELING Apply a uniform layer of WHITE PEEL, place watersoaked cloth compresses over the peeling to activate the enzymes in the peeling. Leave on for 7-10 minutes and remove thoroughly with a moist cloth. If I have to choose then the 2 which I feel a special appreciation for are the REJUVENATION and the HYDRATION treatments. Properly cleansing the skin every single day, even if you had a long and hard day, no excuses are allowed to skip this step. I believe that beautiful, balanced, healthy skin starts with a clean complexion. Every evening we need to remove all make-up and then proceed to cleanse the skin with the choice product, either a face wash or a gentle cleanser recommended according to the skin condition. My tip is to optimize with the ALPHA-BETA PREPPING LOTION, after the cleanser. What are 2 items you have with you at all times? My agenda. I cannot go anywhere without my agenda and also a Sunbrella Demi Make-up To Go. What is something that you're proud of that you've achieved in the last couple of years? Professionally it would be working at HL alongside great colleagues. This gives me great satisfaction. In my personal life, my family, together with my partner we are proud to have 34 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren, the youngest member almost a year old. What is the most common misconception customers have about professional skincare products? Over the many years working in many countries, I have learned that as a professional I need to clarify to my customers that they should be understanding and allow for the products to work as well as explain about the key actives in the products recommended. During trainings I always remind aestheticians they should explain to their clients to have patience, we need to give time for the products to work before we see significant results and that it is best to allow 3-4 weeks for the products to start working. This way they feel well informed and also understand the importance of the home care program we recommend. What skincare products does everyone need? First of all the products should be recommended according to the skin type and skin condition. Sometimes clients are lured by a brand product name or an ingredient they've read about in an article online, but these might not be suitable for their complexion. That is why it is important for a professional to recommend to each client the home care program that is best suited for their skin condition, lifestyle as well as the results they expect to see.
