After THE PREP, the section regarding night time maintenance will follow. That section is labeled KEEP IT CUTE.

INTRO Hey y all! I am very excited to bring you this Short Hair Bedside Bible Quick Guide. In the following pages I will walk you through how to kill it every time with your short hairstyles. This Guide is designed to take you through the necessary steps involved in maintaining your short hairstyles at home. Without the need to visit a salon, I will teach you about prep, night time maintenance and how to ready your hair for the day once you wake from your slumber. The Short Hair Bedside Bible ebook is broken down by hairstyle. There are 4 styles covered in this Guide. Each style is outlined in a chapter dedicated to just the maintenance of that particular style. For ease of reference, the Guide is sectioned off by page. Each page covers a topic. So for instance, you will see THE PREP, followed by the instructions for prepping your hair for whichever style chapter you re reading. After THE PREP, the section regarding night time maintenance will follow. That section is labeled KEEP IT CUTE. The finale is a breakdown of how to style your hair in the days that follow your initial mold and styling day. That section is title MORNING AFTER. For y all who are short on patience AND hair, you can flip to the end of each chapter. Each style s chapter ends with a straight to the point, quick reference bullet list of the steps covered in that chapter. Those are the called QUICK & DIRTY TIPS. Each style covered in this book has been shown on my YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/kreyn01?sub_confirmation=1). You will find a link to the style referenced in each chapter of the Short Hair Bedside Bible. If you watch the tutorial and still have questions, please feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to answer your questions. At the end of this book, you will find a link to each and every product and tool I use on my own hair. Without further ado, let s get into it.

The SLEEK PIXIE PREP When prepping your hair for this style, the first thing you want to do is wash and condition the hair. A moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is what I d suggest. Follow up those steps by deep conditioning the hair. By infusing the strands with moisture, you are ensuring the hair is as pliable as possible. The deep conditioning step will add strength to the strands. Strengthened, pliable strands are easier to mold into the shape and/or style you want. Those strands are also more likely to remain in the style for as long as possible, once your mold is dry and styled. After washing, conditioning and deep conditioning, add a moisturizing product to your hair before you apply your foam of choice. Liquid leave in conditioners work great for this step. Essential oils will also work. Just remember to be light handed with whatever product you choose. The point is to lightly moisturize the hair, not drown it in product. When your hair is ready to be molded, use a wide tooth comb to direct the hair in the direction you will ultimately mold it. At this point, your prep is complete. You can move on to the next step & wet mold your hair. YOUTUBE TUTORIAL FOR THE SLEEK PIXIE https://youtu.be/dvww8hlvrxi

KEEP IT CUTE After your mold has dried and you ve styled your Sleek Pixie, you want to keep things cute and make your style last. To do that, take a small tooth comb and comb through your hair making sure to keep the teeth of your comb on your scalp with each stroke. Comb the hair into the direction you molded it when it was wet. Once that is done, take your hands and smooth over your hair. Now that everything is smooth, you want to add moisture to your stands before wrapping it up for the night. I like to add an oil to my hair at night. Depending on your hair type and texture, you can choose the oil that works best for you. As with the application of moisture to your wet hair, be light handed. You don t want to add too much oil as this will weigh down your hair. A dime sized to a quarter sized amount should be sufficient, depending on the length of your pixie. Rub the oil into your palms and smooth it over your hair in the same direction as the hair is combed. Once the oil is added, take your small tooth comb again. Gently push the edges of your hair off your forehead toward your hairline. I take the ends of my sideburns and tuck them behind my ear during this step, too. At this point, you want to take some oil on your finger tips and gently massage it into your edges near your temple. Rub the oil into your scalp in one motion from your temple down toward your ear. From there, you can take your strip wrap and scarf and wrap your hair up for the night.

MORNING AFTER When you wake up, you simply remove your scarf and wrap strip, add a lil mo moisture, because moisture is key, and comb your hair back into its original shape. Again here, be sure you keep the teeth of the comb on your scalp when combing through your hair. This should be simple because the only parts of the hair that are out of their original positions are the portions near your hairline and the sideburns that you tucked behind your ear. You are then GOOD TO GO!

QUICK & DIRTY TIPS PREP 1. Wash the hair with moisturizing shampoo; 2. Condition the hair with moisturizing conditioner; 3. Deep condition the hair; 4. Add a topical moisturizing product or essential oil; 5. Direct the hair with a comb before applying wrapping foam; KEEP IT CUTE 1. Comb the hair back into the shaped it was molded into; 2. Add oil for moisture (or your product of choice); 3. Gently comb over the hair again; 4. Push your mold toward your hairline; 5. Tuck your sideburns; and 6. Wrap your hair for the night; MORNING AFTER 1. Unwrap your hair; 2. Lightly add moisture; 3. Comb your hair out and reshape & smooth it with your palm; 4. Untuck your edges (reshape them if needed); 5. Get on with your day!

The CLASSIC PIXIE PREP The prep for this style is similar to the prep for the Sleek Pixie. With all or most styles, you want to add moisture to your hair. Relaxed hair needs a lot of moisture. Moisture and saturation are not the same so don t get the two confused. Add moisture with your shampoo and conditioner. An alternative to adding moisture during the washing process, is to add a light serum on top of an essential oil. This method provides protection while heat styling (the serum) and the essential oil will add moisture to your strands. The result will be a high shine finish. Choose your foam, and decide how you will add moisture. Once that step is done, decide where you want your part to be. With the Classic Pixie, you can add a few variations while remaining true to this style. I like to part my hair on the right side, using the highest point of my eyebrow Next decide on how far you want to pull your bangs down onto your forehead. This step will help you determine how far back you want to place your middle part. If you have a heavier bang, your part will need to sit farther back on your head. Likewise, if you have a lighter bang or shorter hair in the front, you will want to place your part closer to your forehead. Now you want to take your wide tooth comb and direct the hair. Then, apply your foam. YOUTUBE TUTORIAL FOR THE CLASSIC PIXIE https://youtu.be/i5ind2j4ces

KEEP IT CUTE When your mold dries, take your serum (and essential oil if you chose this method) and run it through your hair from root to tip. Be sure to lightly part and lift sections of your hair and apply the serum onto the layers of your hair that are underneath the top layer of hair. This will help you achieve a shiny finish throughout the hair when you curl it. To prolong this style, add a small amount of oil all over your hair. Follow that with combing your hair from root to tip with a very small tooth comb. For added insurance, take a light holding spray and lightly spray your hair. Immediately after you spray your hair, take your small tooth comb again and go over the top layer of your hair. For this step you do not need to have the comb on the roots of your hair. Once that is done, comb the edges of your hair off your forehead toward your hairline. Then take the ends of your sideburns and tuck them behind your ear. I would also suggest you add the oil of your choice to your edges and then go ahead and wrap your hair and call it a night.

MORNING AFTER The next morning, simply remove your scarf and wrap strip, add about a dime sized amount of oil, because moisture is BAE, and work it through the outer layer of your hair. This will help soften the hair from the holding spray applied the night prior Take a wide tooth comb and comb the hair back into the shape you created with the wet mold. Pull the sideburns from behind your ear and reshape them with a small comb or densely packed brush. The Classic Pixie is a carefree style and because of that the sideburns don t have to be perfectly molded. You can choose whether or not to remold your sideburns with foam or to leave them brushed through and feathery. Rock your Classic Pixie a second day (or even 3 rd and 4 th day)!

QUICK & DIRTY TIPS PREP 1. Choose the side you want your hair to fall to; 2. Part your hair using the arch of your eyebrow as a guide; 3. Decide on the placement of the part at the crown of your head; 4. Direct the hair with a wide tooth comb; KEEP IT CUTE 1. Add some BAE (moisture is BAE!); 2. Lightly spray the hair with soft holding spray; 3. Push your edges back toward your hairline; 4. Tuck your sideburns behind your ears; 5. Wrap the hair and go to bed; MORNING AFTER 1. Add some moisture; 2. Untuck and reshape your edges; 3. Run your fingers through the longer parts of your hair; 4. Reshape the hair on your hairline with a small tooth comb; and 5. Go about your day!

SPIKED PIXIE PREP The prep for this style is very straightforward. Shampoo, condition and add moisture as usual. Then mold the sides of your hair with a slight forward motion and mold the back straight down. The top will be molded forward with a little less product. You will want to map out where in the crown of your head you want your hair to begin to go forward. Make sure your part is where you want it and that you comb the hair off that part in the direction you want. Trying to redirect the hair later will be a disaster and will ruin the smooth lines needed to elevate this style from homemade to salon quality. You will have hair that is much easier to manipulate if it has less product in it. Shine will be added after you have curled the hair. Pomades or holding products will give your spikes life and those products tend to also have an element of gloss to them. Now you want to take your wide tooth comb and direct the hair. Then, apply your foam, grab a very small tooth comb and mold your wet hair into shape. YOUTUBE TUTORIAL FOR THE SPIKED PIXIE https://youtu.be/ogo-3tuwutm

KEEP IT CUTE When your mold dries, take a light serum and run it through your hair from root to tip. I also like to spray a little holding spray on the hair in the top that will be spiked. Do this before you start curling the hair. At night, you want to add a light oil. Jojoba oil would be great in this instance, as it is much lighter than most other essential oils you could add to your hair. Comb the sides of the hair slightly forward and run a dime sized amount of oil over the sides and back with the palm of your hand. Comb through the hair one more time and then smooth it over with a brush. Once that is done, comb the top of your hair to whichever side you prefer. You want to be sure to run the comb all the way through the ends of the hair. The ends need to be perfectly straight during the night in order for you to easily revive this style the next day. Once you ve flattened the ends of the hair, smooth over your entire head with the brush one last time. You do not need to press the bristles of the brush against your scalp. Just use the bristles to run over the outer layer of your hair so that the hair is smoothed out underneath your wrap. Don t forget to tuck your edges behind your ear. Gently push the edges of your hair back off your forehead toward your hairline and make sure they re smooth. Tie things up with a strip wrap and then wrap your hair as usual for bed.

MORNING AFTER When you remove the wrap from this style, you will want to first add some moisture to the top part of your hair that was spiked. That part of the hair has the most product and you want to soften it a little. Comb the hair back into the shape you had when the style was completed. From there, you will be able to see what needs to be retouched. You will probably have to hit a couple pieces with some heat, but nothing excessive. When you see what pieces of hair need to be reshaped, take your flat iron and reshape them. With a small amount of holding product (pomade or hair spray) hit those pieces so that they stand up again. Then take the brush and spray a light layer of holding spray onto the bristles of your brush. Take the brush and smooth the parts of this style that are standing up and spiked. Follow each brush stroke with your hand. It will add to the smoothness you re trying to create. If you want to, you can give your entire head a once over with a light spray of your holding spray. Comb the sides and back out with a light hand, reshape your edges and you should be good to go.

QUICK & DIRTY TIPS PREP 1. Wash the hair with moisturizing shampoo; 2. Condition the hair with moisturizing conditioner; 3. Add a topical moisturizing product or essential oil; 4. Direct the hair with a comb before applying wrapping foam; 5. Take care to decide on placement of the part at your crown; 6. Apply less product on the parts of your hair that will be spiked; KEEP IT CUTE 1. Comb the hair in the top of your head from root to tip; 2. Add a light oil; 3. Gently comb over the hair again; 4. Use a brush to smooth over the hair in the top of your head; 5. Tuck your sideburns; and 6. Wrap your hair for the night; MORNING AFTER 1. Unwrap your hair; 2. Lightly add moisture; 3. Comb your hair out and reshape; 4. Untuck your edges (reshape them if needed); 5. Take your flat iron and hit any pieces that have lost their shape; 6. Lightly spray your brush with holding spray and run it over the surface of your hair; Get on with your day!

The MESSY PIXIE PREP As with the other styles in this book, you want to begin with freshly washed, conditioned and moisturized hair. The Messy Pixie shines brightest when the hair has a slight lift to it. You want peaks in the curls you create. For that to happen, go easy on the type of conditioner you choose to use. You want a lighter conditioner as opposed to one that is heavy and will weigh down your strands. You may even opt for a light weight, water-based leave in conditioner that you apply after you ve washed your hair. Next decide where you want your curls to fall. With this style you can curl your hair forward, to either side, or you can curl it going back toward the crown of your head. Decide on a position and stick with it. You also want to make note of how you want your edges to fall because they will need to be blended into the style after the curling is done. Because this style will need to stand up, I like to use a little less wrapping foam than usual. You can also opt for a foam that gives a lighter hold. This style will be product heavy in the styling phase and because of that you don t want to start with products that are heavy in the prepping stage. Go ahead and apply your foam and wrap your hair and edges in the direction you desire and you re ready! YOUTUBE TUTORIAL FOR THE MESSY PIXIE https://youtu.be/1dcy-0sb-qi

KEEP IT CUTE To get this style ready for multiple days of wear, you want to be careful how you tie it up at night. The product used to form the messy look of the Messy Pixie can work against you. They are a double edged sword in many ways. Holding products keep the style in place during the day, but can also lock in a mistake overnight. To prevent this, take a medium toothed comb and run it through the sides and back of your hair. That should be the shortest part of your hair and those areas should have the least amount of product buildup. Once you ve done that, take your moisturizer and run it over the outer layer of the sides and back and smooth them down with your palms. Next, add some oil to your fingertips. Be generous. When you have a lot of product in your hair, such as pomade or holding spray, oils will break down some of the stiffness caused by the product and it will allow you to manipulate the hair without causing flakes or breakage. So take your oily fingers and grab the chunky pieces of hair on top of your head and run the oil from about midway up the strands of hair to the tips. You are basically putting oil on the hair strands, but you only want to add from the middle to the tip of the chunky curls that you created when styling the hair. This allows the hair to become pliable and soft while maintaining the basic shape of the style. This will all make the reshaping much easier the following morning. When done, gently flatten the hair on top of your head with your hands. Run your fingers through to lightly smooth it and wrap as usual for bed.

MORNING AFTER The next morning, simply remove your scarf and wrap strip, add a tiny bit of oil (a pea sized amount) and work it through the chunky pieces of hair again. Be careful to keep the oil light and add it to the tips of the hair where the product was because you want to re-establish the shape of the peaks, but you don t want to make the ends of the hair heavy. Heavy pieces will cause your peaks to fall flat and ruin the style. Also, too much oil at the roots will make the hair look greasy and you don t want that. Use your finger tips and nails to lift the roots of the hair so that the peaks stand up and you create some texture and fullness at the base of the style. This helps the peaks stand up too and gives the style its overall shape and silhouette. Take your small tooth comb and comb the hair on the backs and sides of your head to smooth it out. Run your hands over the sections of hair as you comb them. Pull the sideburns from behind your ear and reshape them with a small comb and a little foam and oil. Some product likely got on them from the original style so you want to soften them back up and lie them back down. You can add some serum for shine and you re ready for your day!

QUICK & DIRTY TIPS PREP 1. Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo; 2. Condition the hair with a light weight conditioner or use a water based leave-in after washing; 3. Choose the side you want your hair to fall to; 4. Decide how you want your edges to be styled; 5. Part and direct the hair into your mold with a small tooth comb; KEEP IT CUTE 1. Add a generous amount of oil to your fingertips; 2. Take the chinks of hair that created your messy curls and add the oil to the tips; 3. Smooth the back and sides of hair with a wide tooth comb; 4. Tuck your sideburns behind your ears; 5. Wrap your hair and go to bed; MORNING AFTER 1. Add some LIGHT moisture; 2. Untuck and reshape your edges; 3. Re-establish the chunky pieces created the day before by shaping them with your fingers; 4. Reshape the hair on your hairline with a small tooth comb; 5. Smooth the sides and back with a small tooth comb; 6. Enjoy your day;
