ITEC Unit 671 Cut Men s Hair using Basic Techniques What this unit is about: This unit is about the precision cutting skills involved in barbering to achieve a variety of looks and neckline finishes for men using club cutting, scissor over comb, clipper over comb, thinning and freehand techniques. To carry out this unit, you will need to maintain a high level of health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain a professional personal appearance and demonstrate effective communication skills. In this standard, razors will only be used for removing unwanted hair outside the outline shape. The main outcomes of this standard are: 1. maintain effective and safe methods of working when cutting hair 2. cut hair to achieve a variety of looks Evidence Requirements: 1. Simulation is not allowed for any performance evidence within this unit 2. You must practically demonstrate in your everyday work that you have met the standard for cutting hair using barbering techniques. 3. Your Assessor will observe your performance on at least 6 occasions. 4. From the range, you must show that you have: - used all the tools and equipment - cut both wet and dry hair - taken into account all the factors - cut 6 of the 10 looks - used all the techniques - created all the neckline shapes - achieved all the outline shapes - given all the advice and recommendations 5. You must prove to your Assessor that you have the necessary skills to be able to perform competently in respect of all the items in this range It is likely most evidence of your performance will be gathered from the observations made by your Assessor but you may be required to produce other evidence to support your performance if your Assessor has not been present such as Witness Testimony.
