ON PAGE 27 DEATH DURING SEX HAS A PROTOTYPE MOST MEN DIE DURING EXTRA-MARITAL SEX If you thought men's sexual response is quite simple and their needs can be met easily, then you certainly need to revise your knowledge of the "birds and bees," for men aren't as simple as they are made out to be. Death during sex has a prototype. While examining the incidence of death during sex, a 1975 study discovered a unique pattern in males: the "deceased is usually married; he is not with a spouse and in unfamiliar surroundings," and death usually occurs after "a big meal with alcohol." Another study in 1989 found further evidence supporting the extramarital sex bit. Fourteen of the 20 cases of "la mort d'amour," or coital death, happened during an affair. Orgasm... or lack of... may prevent breast cancer in males A study in Greece found evidence that the frequency of adult orgasms may have an impact on the incidence of breast cancer in men. In fact, it was also revealed that males with breast cancer had experienced fewer orgasms on average than men without the disease. Men fall in love faster than women It's not the women, but men, who get out of control after a glimpse of the right attractive face and fall head over heels in love immediately, claimed love researcher Dr. Helen Fisher Deepika Padukone Rekha Suzzane and Hrithik Roshan Sonali and Goldie Behl FOR BEST DEALS AND INFORMATION SEE PAGE 32

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY AUGUST 28, 26, 2012 2013 fashion MidWeek 27 OSCARS RED CARPET 25 trendsetting gowns in the history of Oscars More than the actual award ceremony, Oscars have always been about who wore what to the red carpet, and sometimes more than the acceptance speech it was the outfit that went down in history only to be pulled up by fashion critics for dissection time and again. But in this run up to the Acad emy Awards we'll only look back upon the gowns that struck us the most for their sheer beauty or boldness, and not the ones that only grabbed eyeballs, but didn't leave a mark. Audrey Hepburn (1954): She not only won the Oscar in the Best Actress category for her role in the iconic movie Roman Holiday, but she sent hearts racing with her lovely boat-necked Hubert de Givenchy dress perfectly clutching her wafer-thin waist. SALMA HAYEK, HALLE BERRY AND SANDRA BULLOCK, WHO WORE ELIE SAAB, ALL CHOSE BLACK DRESSES WITH GLITZY DETAILING, AMANDA SEYFRIED WORE AN EMBELLISHED ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Nicole Kidman (1997): After walking hand in hand with then husband Tom Cruise, Nicole posed for the paparazzi in a pistachio green satin shift dress by John Galliano for Christian Dior with Asian-inspired embroidery on the bust. By setting it off with scarlet lipstick and chandelier earrings, Nicole proved to her detractors that she was daring yet sophisticated in her choice. NAOMI WATTS WAS STUNNING IN SILVER WHILE CATHERINE ZETA JONES OPTED FOR A GOLDEN ZUHAIR MURAD CREATION NICOLE KIDMAN PLAYED IT SAFE IN BLACK FOR THE EVENING JENNIFER ANISTON TOOK A RISK AND OPTED FOR SCARLET FROCKS Renee Zellweger (2001): Not many dared to wear yellow, and that too sunshine yellow, to the red carpet. But Renee did. She chose this gorgeous off-shoulder, pleated dress by Lily et Cie for the big event with almost or no accessories. But one couldn't miss the ox-blood lips and those glorious blonde curls skimming her shoulder. Julia Roberts (2001): She not only took home the Oscar for her portrayal of Erin Brockovich, but also proved to be every bit a fashion veteran by picking an exclusive vintage Valentino masterpiece from 1982 over fancy designer junk. While Valentino regarded it as one of the highpoints of his career, it was Julia's easy grace that made her stand out among her contemporaries. Kate Winslet (2002): One of the finest and boldest actors of our times, Kate Winslet set Ben de Lisi's career rolling after she wore a scarlet gown by the label with a lovely flowery strap across her bare shoulder and her hair neatly tied in a bun. Reese Witherspoon (2002): With her short golden locks, Reese looked feminine in an all black delicate lace Valentino gown with bead detailing around the waist and knee. Halle Berry (2002): She set a trend on the red carpet with a diaphanous Elie Saab gown with a satin espresso colour train. The dress while revealing her curves though a fine net mesh also covered her lady bits with the use of some intelligent embroidery work. Halle was also the star of the evening as she went on to win the Best Actress Oscar for Monsters Ball. Jennifer Lopez (2003): Jennifer Lopez with former lover Ben Affleck in tow is best remembered for this Oscar appearance where she gave up her glam image for a look more mature and soothing. Jennifer wore an understated powder blue, one-shoulder asymmetrical Valentino gown with fine lace detailing on the hemline and created history. Naomi Watts (2004): Flaunting shoulder blades to die for in a nude embellished Versace gown with a floor-brushing hemline, Naomi looked radiant as a shooting star when she strolled down the red carpet and posed for the paparazzi. Charlize Theron (2004): Charlize picked a Gucci gown with a plunging back and a floor-skimming hemline. The glittering dress in sky blue together with her vintage curly hairdo accentuated her features, particularly the colour of her eyes. Angelina Jolie (2004): Angelina looked an angel in that white satin gown with a plunging neckline and matching wrap by Marc Bouwer. Her choice of jewellery was also worth a note. Cate Blanchett (2005): She dared to wear buttercup yellow to the Oscars. But the evening paid of as Cate not only looked a diva in that beautiful Valentino couture gown which was specially designed for her by the designer himself, but also swept the Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category for role in The Aviator.
