We cordially invite you and all your editorial colleagues to attend the most sizeable and most authoritative optical exhibition of China as well as Asia, CIOF 2012, the 25 th China International Optics Fair, which is to be held on 10 th 12 th September 2012 at the China International Exhibition Centre, Beijing. The CIOF 2012 is endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce of China as one of their 108 recognized distinguished exhibitions, which are reviewed on an annual basis and receive ample support and attention from the Chinese government. Whilst CIOF 2012 will be proudly accompanied by 798 exhibitors and 324 global brands from 21 countries and regions. CIOF 2012 will also show off a gross exhibition area of 55,000 square metres after establishing two additional fair grounds at the Radisson SAS Hotel and the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel, resulting in an increase of a stunning 25% over CIOF 2011. At CIOF 2012, international exhibitors will showcase the trendiest eyewear products and state-of-the-art optical equipment in an aggregate arena of 14,000 square metres. Brand promotion and the advocation of high technologies deployment will again be the themes of CIOF 2012. It is also important to note that at CIOF 2012, full support of the Chinese optical industry is evident, with 527 Chinese exhibitors present. There will be participation groups from various eyewear production bases of the country and all reputed Chinese eyewear brands will be present. In other words, buyers and the media can enjoy the convenience of visiting all Chinese and international exhibitors at one go, viewing all the famous brand names. As regards demand, according to Chinese Customs, in the first half of 2011, China exported US$1.666 billion worth of eyewear products, which is an equivalence of a 20.37% year-on-year increase. In relation to imports, over the same period, the value was US$0.251 billion, representing a 48.28% year-on-year increase. At present, 550 million Chinese citizens are in need of eyecare services, denoting an exceptionally strong and sustained demand for high quality frames, lens and equipment. The contact lens scene is no less encouraging, with 50 million contact lens wearers, aged 15-35, exactly in the prime of their spending capabilities, constituting an unparalleled procuring force. One must also note that China has around 30,000 opticians. Demand is certainly an issue we need not worry about. It is also very important to note that the Organizer, China Optometric & Optical Association, headquartered in Beijing, is the official and authoritative optical association of China which can summon all Chinese buyers of the industry to attend her activity. CIOF 2012 also means very serious business!
