Issue #93 September 27th 2017 A tremendous success for DaTE The edition on show from 23-25 September at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence ended with a +40% increase of professional visitors. Organisers have confirmed the same location for 2018. The 5th edition of DaTE, the exclusive event where leading companies specialising in internationally renowned, avant-garde eyewear meet buyers no longer just Italian - in an atmosphere filled with experimentation, innovation, luxury and contemporary style, closed on Monday with a significant increase in numbers and on a highly positive note. Around 3500 (+40% compared to last year) buyers and professionals came to preview the remarkable creations of 136 selected companies (50% coming from abroad). An impressive result considering the exclusive target of the event, which, after 4 years in Milan, moved for the first time to the famous and evocative Stazione Leopolda in Florence. Florence is a city rich with artistic and cultural charm where, during the Renaissance, standards of beauty and excellence in design were defined. It was the perfect backdrop for 3 days of intense professional trade and exchanging of ideas between experts networking at the event, where creativity and originality took centre stage. Passion for products could be felt among the booths and seemed to embody the shapes and colours of the extraordinary glasses on display, designed to complement the wearer s look and spirit. Thanks to the bringing together of daring hearts and minds - which is possible only at DaTE - these products generated a lot of excitement among experts who see the event as a source of inspiration, where energy and ideas are there to be grasped. The positive reaction from visitors and exhibitors has convinced the organisers - who had chosen Florence for its undisputed appeal - to confirm the Leopolda as the location for next year. The 6th edition of DaTE will come to Florence from 22-24 September 2018. world weekly wonders WMIDO 2

Stop and See Stop and See is the new short film in the Giorgio Armani Frames of Life 2017 campaign. In a world that never stops, where we are driven to keep going and never miss a moment, the three main players are filmed in an unrelenting race. So, what if they decided to stop to absorb the essence of things, of life, of self? The Frames of Life campaign is an invitation to savor what is around you, to see, so that you never stop dreaming. The energy of the video is underscored by black and white and hectic shots that thrill and engage the spectator. The location is Lisbon, the city of light in continual artistic and creative upheaval and constant dialog with dry land, rivers and the sea. A metropolis that s fast-moving, just like the protagonists in the video. The short film was directed by Pepe Avila De Pino and Kirsten Tan, two young directors who were involved in the first edition of Films of City Frames in 2014, when they were students at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, confirmation of Giorgio Armani s attention to emerging talents. The story revolves around eyewear: a conspiratorial detail through which to enjoy the large and small pleasures that life offers when you decide to slow down. The Giorgio Armani Frames of Life fall/ winter collection is typically artisanal and imbued with precious details thanks to leading-edge manufacturing techniques and construction that guarantee total comfort and elegance that s in tune with the present but has a wealth of memories. world weekly wonders WMIDO 3
