The three-projection installation reconstructs one of the central motifs of Christian iconography, the well-known episode narrated in Luke 1: 26 38. Underlying this contemporary Annunciation is the idea posited by Estonian philosopher Jacob von Uexküll (b. 1864; d. 1944) that the different worlds of living creatures all exist simultaneously, a concept Ahtila uses to explore the nature of miracles and the possibilities of perception and knowledge.
