Dusty's hair wasn't very thick, more noticable in later life after she dustyspringfield.info/ /topic.asp?ar 3/7
ditched the early wigs and hairpieces, and so you can usually tell from the thickness of it. The RAH was very definitely her own hair, she shook it around so much, if it hadn't been, it would have ended up in the front row! MENY WIGS LOOK REAL WHEN NOT PERFECT. Hampson Posted - 01/08/2008 : 11:08:23 I think they are all her own hair because of the fineness. It may be on the first one she has had some extensions added. Remember once she praised her hair dresser, Debbie I think her name was, for going beyond the call of duty. The second one has to be her own, as Carole says - the way she ran her fingers through I think proves it. The third one too, maybe one or two extensions, but not a complete wig. Wendy 4703 Posts allherfaces Administrator Posted - 01/08/2008 : 14:34:51 Mary, this section is fine...your topic could have gone any number of places. I have to say I'm not sure. I would originally have said that all three were her own hair. But after meeting Tim's friend, Stephen, who is a wig master, I was convinced that you cannot always tell. He said if it's a good wig you can't tell it's a wig. I also know her hair was really damanged from all it went through, so I agree about the thinness. I also heard that in the 1960s Dusty often had her hair quite short and wore wigs a lot. ~You thrill me with a holy kind of bliss....so closer (closer) 14235 Posts Posted - 01/08/2008 : 15:00:58 THANKS EVERYONE FOR TAKING TIME FOR ANSWERS. BACK IN 67 I WAS LEFT THINKING THAT DUSTY HAD A BAD BLEACH JOB.IT WAS SUN DAMAGED AND VERY DRY.BUT TO ME SHE ALWAYS LOOKED LIKE HERSELF VERY "DUSTY", Cas19 Wasn't born to follow Posted - 01/08/2008 : 18:16:40 quote: Originally posted by daydreamer Imo, one and two are real and the third one is a wig. Like Mary, I have worn many wigs, guess we are from the same era. I do think the third one is one is most likely a wig, not sure about the other two. I'd like to see a wig revival - far easier than daily blow-drying. Vicky x 1047 Posts Baby Blue Posted - 01/08/2008 : 22:04:27 Vicky that was tne entire idea of a wig back than. You didn't wear a wig to screm out LOOK I'm wearing a wig. However, wig wearers got to know what was a wig and what was not. Marty 3185 Posts memphisinlondon Posted - 02/08/2008 : 01:56:43 I didn't think any of the hair styles were wigs but I guess I don't think about these things. I just assumed Dusty was always 'natural' after the dramatic 60s styles. And I thought she generally wore hair pieces rather than full wigs. It's great to learn new things here just about every week. She looks great anyway anyhow. I always prefer her more natural less dramatic hair styles. So it's the second image that I like best. 3565 Posts Memphis Ever since we met... Jenny I start counting 45 Posts Posted - 03/08/2008 : 01:47:32 I don't think any of these are wigs. Maybe a few extensions? I assumed she stopped wearing wigs/hair pieces in the early 70s? Going by a few photos i've seen of Dusty around the time of the 2nd photo i'd say that was all her own. I'm no expert though... Baby Blue Posted - 06/08/2008 : 18:57:09 You look very nice Mary, love the wig! Marty 3185 Posts n/a deleted Posted - 06/08/2008 : 20:22:47 Kids, I AM an expert, with 39 years of hairdressing under my belt along with a lot of wig and hairpiece experience, and I have to sadly say that I believe that the pics are her own hair. When you perm bleached hair you usually get fried hair.and baby that hair is COOKED!!!!! Keith It Begins Again! 33 Posts memphisinlondon Posted - 06/08/2008 : 20:34:30 Well, that's it then. No wigs and Dusty's hair was cooked. I'll go for that! Great hair-do, Mary. It wouldn't cross my mind that was a wig.
