HAZEL GREEN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DRESS CODE & General Reminders Please see the Madison County Code of Conduct for the complete list of Student Dress Code rules and regulations.

No Unnatural Hair Color

BODY PIERCING Only earrings may be worn. -No eyebrow rings. -No lip rings -No tongue rings. -No nose rings. -Clear spacers are considered piercings and will not be allowed.

Headbands Headbands are allowed if worn in the proper position on the head and are not excessively wide. Athletic type headbands are not allowed. Bandana type headbands are not allowed. NOT ALLOWED ALLOWED

DRESSES No Sundresses This means your shoulders should be covered. Dresses should have sleeves or a sweater/jacket

TOPS NO off-the-shoulder tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps. No cleavage may show.

Tops Any item of clothing worn that contains lace, sheer fabric or any type see-through fabric may only be worn if the area of the body visible through the material meets all other criteria of the dress code.

JEANS Frayed jeans are not allowed Baggy or sagging pants are not allowed. Holes with or without patches, rips, tears, and frays are not allowed.

Leggings,Pants, Shorts, Dresses and Skirts K-12 Appropriate dress for students must be worn that does not reveal the body in an inappropriate manner, e.g. clothing must not be too tight, too short, bare at the midriff or sides. Sundresses, off the shoulder tops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, sheer or see-through clothing, and clothing with holes may not be worn. K-12 Shorts, skirts, and dresses too short in length are not allowed. A general guide to length is that the item should fall below the tips of the fingers when arms are fully extended to the side; however, due to physical differences in some students, this guide may mean some items are still too short. ---------Not allowed------------------------------- Allowed if shirt is past fingertips

Sweatpants, joggers and athletic shorts are not allowed. This includes wind pants, warm-up pants, and dry fit material. A good rule of thumb is that if a pair of shorts or pants that have elastic waist band then it probably does not meet dress code.these items are allowed during PE classes if not excessively short.

SHORTS & SKIRTS Shorts that have pockets could be acceptable depending on the type and or length. Administrator s judgment will be the final decision. A general rule is shorts and skirts must come below the student s fingertips depending on the student s phenotype. Administrator s judgment will be the final decision.

T-SHIRTS DESIGNS Must not display pictures, writings or symbols of the following: Drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, sexual activities, or gangs.

FOOTWEAR Shoes and sandals may be worn. NO house shoes.

HATS, CAPS, SUNGLASSES Hats, caps, and bandanas are not allowed in the building. Students will not be allowed to carry around their hat or bandana in their possession. Sunglasses should not be worn in the building.

ADDITIONAL DRESS CODE RULES: No Wallet chains. No sagging pants. No head coverings. This includes crocheted hair coverings. No blankets are allowed. No Pajama/lounge bottoms allowed. No cell phones may be worn around the neck.

Pictures Students are not allowed to take pictures or video on campus without approval from the administration.

Writing on clothing Students are not allowed to write on their clothing. Students should not write on themselves or others so that it becomes a distraction to the school environment.

No backpacks and jackets are to be worn in the serving lines at lunch.

Digital Citizenship Students are allowed to use their technology when allowed by the teacher or administration. We are a BYOT school. (Bring your own technology) Students who use technology to disrupt the school day will be disciplined. Our purpose for technology use is to make the learning process more meaningful and relevant.

Clothing should be worn in the correct manner and intended purpose. Wearing clothes backwards will not be allowed.

Parking Reminder that parking is a privilege not a right. Students who have discipline issues and attendance issues can have their driving privileges removed. We are very fortunate currently with our parking situation. In many large schools only upperclassmen have the opportunity to park due to limited space. We currently have the space and have allowed anyone who meets the qualifications to drive and park on campus.

Students who have excessive tardiness are required to ride the school bus for a period of time and their parking privileges suspended.
