Any slight imperfections can be lightly sanded. Wipe with a damp cloth. Apply 2 coats of each basecoat color for good coverage. Refer to the photos and basecoat as follows: Medium Flesh faces & hands Sand collars; her scarf; his socks; all raised patches Soft Black his hat & shoes; both belts Espresso his beard Honey Brown her hair Lamp Black strap on his shoes Emperor s Gold buckles Burnt Orange his hatband; all pumpkins; textured 1
patches Raw Sienna cornucopia Marigold wheat; corn in cornucopia Hauser Medium Green pumpkin stems; grape leaf; corn husks Mulberry grapes Light Cinnamon both bodices; all ribbed patches Camel plain patches Cocoa woodgrain patches Painting Instructions: Shade the faces, under his hat; against her hair; both sides of the noses; on her neck against the collar; and on the hands against the sleeves and to separate the thumbs with Shading Flesh. Highlight the center of the faces with Natural Buff. Blush the cheeks lips with Antique Rose. The eyes are Soft Black. Eyebrows are Espresso. Highlight the eyes and tops of cheeks with small dots of Warm White. Shade his beard and hair under the hat with Soft Black. Drybrush highlights on his beard with Butterscotch. Shade her hair with Burnt Sienna and highlight with Primary Yellow. Shade the collars under their hair; where objects touch them; on her scarf around her hair and in the folds; and top & bottom of his socks with Raw Sienna. Highlight the open areas with Warm White. The stitches around the collars and her bow are Lamp Black. Shade his shoes to separate; around the straps, and in the groove above the soles with Soft Black and highlight the toes with Butterscotch. Shade his pumpkin against the stem and in the grooves with Heritage Brick. Highlight the sections with a drybrush of Primary Yellow. Shade the wheat with Burnt Sienna and highlight with Primary Yellow. Shade the pumpkins in the cornucopia at the bottoms, and highlight with Primary Yellow. Shade the corn against the husks with Burnt Sienna and highlight with Primary Yellow. Shade the leaf and corn husks with Black Green and highlight with Irish Moss. Drybrush highlight the grapes with a brush mix of Mulberry and Warm White. Shade the cornucopia, under the rim; and above and below the hands with Soft Black. Highlight the open area and along the rim with Marigold. Shade the bodices under the collars; around the sleeves; on the sleeves and above the belts; and 2
on his pants to separate and under his tunic with Soft Black. Highlight the open areas; center of the sleeves; and center of his pants with a drybrush of Burnt Orange. Shade around the largest raised patches; and both ends of the smaller raised patches with Raw Sienna and highlight the centers with Warm White. Mix DecoArt Staining & Antiquing Medium as directed on the bottle with Burnt Umber. With an old scruffy brush, apply the mixture onto the patched area on the piece. Do small sections at a time, being sure that the mixture goes in the cracks between the patches. Wipe off as much as desired with a damp cloth (I use a piece of an old T-Shirt). Finishing: Transfer the words onto the raised patches and line them with Lamp Black. Finish with several light coats of DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher Matte. 3
