Uniform/Grooming Rules 1. Hair styling for all students must be simple, neat, and conservative. Hair must be natural in color. The use of bleach or dyes, highlights, or any other method of changing hair color is prohibited. Completely shaved heads, asymmetrically or partially shaved heads, Mohawks, dreadlocks, wedge or fade haircuts, tail, shaving, or carving into the natural hairline or eyebrows and the like are prohibited. Boys may not wear braids. 2. Boys hair must be neatly groomed and moderate in length in the front, back top, and sides). Hair cannot extend below the top collar of the school shirt, below the top of the eyebrows, or below the top of the ears. Hair height cannot be longer/taller than a ½ inch. Boys are not be permitted to wear braids, dread locks, twists, knots, pony tails or any other style deemed inappropriate by the principal. Boys are not permitted to wear any hair accessories. 3. Girls hair must not cover their eyes. Braids must be modest in length and should not cause a distraction. 4. Students may not wear make-up, fingernail polish, or any other coloring or marking on the nails. 5. Jewelry may be worn in moderation. One small silver or gold religious chain, a watch (no alarm or smart watches), or rings worn in moderation are acceptable. Girls are allowed to wear one stud earring per ear (lower hole). Dangling earrings or hoop earrings that are not allowed. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings. Chokers and necklaces of any type are not allowed. Plastic or rubber jewelry (including rubber bands) is not allowed. Any jewelry that is worn must be appropriate for a Catholic School. 6. Girls' skirts must fall below the knee cap. Skirts cannot be rolled, tucked, or folded at the waist. Waistbands must be showing. Shirttails must be neatly tucked in. 7. Boys must wear their pants properly around their waist. Belts must be showing. Shirttails must be neatly tucked in. 8. Sweatshirts and jackets must be OLPH uniform. No other sweatshirts or jacket can be worn inside the school building, the Mercy Building, the cafeteria, or church. On cold days, coats can be worn outside over the uniform sweatshirt or jacket. Sweatshirts and jackets must be worn properly (not tied around the waist or draped over various parts of the body). 9. Any shoe/tennis shoe that does comply with uniform policy is not allowed. 10. Socks must be plain white crew socks. Ankle or low cut socks are not allowed. 11. No other colored shirts or blouses are allowed under the school uniform shirt except for a white, V-neck, short-sleeve T-shirt. 12. Shoes must be a solid black, leather athletic shoe made by K-Swiss, New Balance or Stride Rite. Shoes cannot have colored markings or colored logos of any kind. Mary Janes and other flats are not allowed.
