RE-SPEC THE BRASS RECONDITIONED BRASS Under normal operating conditions, ammunition cartridge cases have a lifespan greater than a single shot. Unfortunately, it s not as simple as reloading and firing. Returning a cartridge case to its pre-fired condition requires multiple steps and highly-specialized equipment that is cost-prohibitive for most reloading hobbyists. Re-Spec the Hunt That s where Top Brass comes in. Our comprehensive reconditioning process ensures our final products are completely ready to load at a significantly lower cost than new brass. Different calibers have different reconditioning needs. RECONDITIONING PROCESS SORTING Starting with bulk lots of pre-fired cartridges, Top Brass sorts out any damaged brass, blanks, dummy rounds, training ammunition, and any other unusable material. This is done to ensure that we start with top quality material. All products are then sorted by case/caliber type. PRE-PROCESS QUALITY CONTROL Prior to moving the materials forward in processing, Top Brass performs an initial QUALITY CONTROL measure by examining the mouth of each brass cartridge to ensure that all nonconforming pieces are discarded. This QC is instituted for 100% of all product. RINSING Top Brass begins its recondition process by rinsing all brass and clearing away any excess powder, dirt, and other particles that will hinder further processing. After rinsing, the brass casings are tumble-dried and prepared for mechanical reconditioning. RESIZING & TRIMMING As cartridge casings expand when fired, Top Brass takes extra care to precisely reshape each product to its original form using caliber-specific sizing dies.this process uses strict SAAMI specifications for head-spacing, case-mouth dimensions, and all outer dimensions. In addition to reforming the brass cartridges, Top Brass also trims the top portion of the case (around the mouth) to return the case to its correct length. WASHING & POLISHING During resizing, a lubricate is required to provide a uniform and concentric form to the cartridge, as well as to protect the reloading press and the brass case itself. To remove this material, Top Brass washes and polishes all brass cartridges in a proprietary solution that makes them shine better than new. QUALITY CONTROL In addition to 100% automated inspection, Top Brass products are also randomly sampled and gauged along the entire reconditioning process. This double inspection insures that every manufacturing station meets industry standards and dimension requirements. Top Brass then performs one last visual QC inspection before final packaging. PACKAGING Top Brass offers multiple options in packaging, including retail ready products, as well as bulk packaging. Standard retail packaging types include the following: Blister / Hang Packs Poly Bags w/ Hang Card Free Standing Jugs DEPRIMING & REAMING Top Brass uses a single-step mechanical process for depriming and reaming each brass casing. First, the spent primer is removed with a punch die, and then excess brass is removed using a small cutting tool attached to our patented Auto-Reamer system.
