Led by members of the Crossrail and BFK teams, the visit will include a brief presentation of the project followed by a full site visit. Limited to 10 people Visionairies & Luminaries only Explore this fascinating insight into ancient life in the City and discover the remains of the Roman Bathhouse, which lies hidden beneath office buildings. Following the tour of the Bathhouse, there will also be an opportunity to visit the Roman Fort Gate under London Wall. It is a 20 minute walk from the Bathhouse to the Fort Gate.

As a butcher, Anthony frequented the meat market at West Smithfield (the future home of the Museum of London) for over 50 years, carrying on the tradition from his father and grandfather. With discussion led by curator Beverley Cook, Anthony will detail life as a London butcher in the post-war period. Join our Chairman, Clive Bannister, and historian Bettany Hughes for dinner and a discussion on The World s Desire: what it takes to make a cosmopolitan city comparing London and Istanbul. Bettany Hughes is an award-winning historian, author and broadcaster. She received her degrees in ancient and medieval history from Oxford University and holds a Research Fellowship at King s College, London. November Museum of London Museum of London Private visit: Centre for Human Bioarchaeology Tuesday 21 November 6-7.30pm Director s Lunch: Smithfield Thursday 23 November 12-2pm Bleeding Heart 3 Bleeding Heart Yard London EC1N 8SJ Hidden beneath the Museum of London s rotunda garden, the Centre for Human Bioarchaeology looks after a 20,000-strong collection of human skeletal remains, from Roman Londoners up to the 19th century. This behind-the-scenes tour, with curators Jelena Bekvalac and Rebecca Redfern, includes the opportunity to view examples of battle wounds, executions and bone disease. Join our Director, Sharon Ament, for a special lunch in Smithfield, to discuss the rich and varied history of the Museum of London s future home from peasant revolts to Tudor Royals; Medieval monasteries to Victorian markets. An optional tour of the New Museum site will take place at 11am for any guests who have not yet visited. Join curator Beverley Cook to discover some of the key objects in the Museum of London s collection relating to the militant suffragette campaign the largest in the world and to learn about the Votes for Women exhibition that will open in February 2018. Begin December in true festive style with a Victorian themed wreath-making workshop. Learn how to weave your own willow base and then adorn it with foliage and decorations.
