Las Vegas, Nevada Historical Note District 5300 of the Rotary International was founded in Pasadena, California in 1920 and encompassed most of Southern California and all of Nevada. The Las Vegas Rotary Club was founded on March 15, 1923 with eighteen original members. Within five years the membership grew to 34. In 1931 the Rotary partnered with Six Companies for local support in the building of Boulder Dam. In 1942 the Basic Magnesium Plant was built in Henderson, Nevada and the Rotary was there to meet the workers and inspect the plant. In 1952 the Las Vegas Rotary opened its second location in Henderson, Nevada. In 1986 the Las Vegas Rotary hosted the first International Convention in Nevada for over 20,000 participants. As of 2015 the Rotary Club in the Las Vegas area hosts over 180 members. - Page 3-
