Fifteen established and emerging Canadian designers showcased garments and accessories crafted in 100 per cent pure, soft and luxurious Cashmere Bathroom Tissue (BT), Canada s best-selling brand. The show, now in its ninth year, supports the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and heralds the return of limited-edition Pink Cashmere with twenty-five cents from the sale of every package going directly to the cause, throughout October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fierce femininity is Anomal Couture designer Sonia Leclair s trademark, and her sensual cut-out gown for the 2012 White Cashmere Collection crafted from essentially linked lingerie elements doesn t disappoint. David Jack s aerodynamically sleek couture for the 2012 White Cashmere Collection takes flight with aileron-like peplums at the hips and a flowing BT fabric train that evokes a chute trailing a supersonic jet. Izzy Camilleri might as well call this number Squeals of Delight. What little girl could resist twirling in this party dress entirely constructed of hundreds of BT blossoms, in white Cashmere Envirocare TM on the bodice and in pink from the waist to the full, ankle-length skirt? Elaborate, unexpected volumes and textures are Adrian Wu s design signature. Golnaz Ashtiani teases a beautiful floral brocade effect from Cashmere BT fabric and frames it with dramatic cone-like volumes in her glamorous goddess gown for the BT Couture Collection. Show-stopping dresses are Rodney Philpott s stock in trade. His sultry slit-to-the-hip pink sheath is crafted from BT lace and strewn from shoulder to the hem of its train with white flowers and petals. In their delicious, dangerously short dance dress, Shawna Robinson and Natalie Sydoruk of LABEL contrast the careful tailoring of a smooth strapless bodice with a frothy skirt created from layer upon layer of pink and white BT ribbons. Delicate, painstakingly pleated and folded pennants of pink and white BT fabric flutter to the knees where a graceful white floor-length skirt takes over. You can see a very 21 st century take on the classic Roman toga in Laura Siegel s intriguingly draped and layered dress for the 2012 White Cashmere Collection. She doubles down on the textural interest by adding a chunky knit shawl. Suhaila Niazi confects a delectable layer cake of a gown for the 2012 White Cashmere Collection, complete with a pink fondant bodice and tiered skirts frosted with elaborate flowers and edged in beaded icing. Accessories designer Michelle Merizzi imagines a massive magnolia blossom headpiece for her amazing accessory contributions to the 2012 White Cashmere Collection.
