Oci 4 N4Rf c-i 1..-q1 20 The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) School of Performing and Visual Arts (SOPVA) conducted a four-day workshop for Tihar jail inmates. The workshop aimed at exposing the inmates to various art forms associated with painting, music and school theatre. The workshop focused on the basics of arts and provided a firsthand experience in painting, music and theatre arts to the inmates. The workshop in painting and theatre was conducted for a group of male inmates and the music workshop entertained female inmates. During the four-day workshop the inmates were not only introduced to fine arts in the form of painting, music and theatre but were also given a chance to actively participate in the activities and produce their own work of art. This exposure may also prove to be helpful for the inmates that they might take it up as a profession later on. At the end of this workshop, music and play presentation was made by the trained inmates and an exhibition of paintings made by them was also held. PGDT-02 3
