rain dogs Tereza Lochmann
Tereza Lochmann (born in 1990, Prague) graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) and from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (ENSBA) in 2017 majoring in the engraving and painting studio. She has exhibited in Paris and Prague since 2014. Her work has been presented recently in the group exhibitions Felicità (2018, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Paris) LUBOK (2016, Galerie Dukan, Leipzig) and Eclosion (2017, Galerie Joseph, Paris). She has directed several solo exhibitions including Survival strategy (Prám Studio, Prague, 2018), Don t Grow Up (ENSBA, Paris, 2017), Animal Militaris (Galerie Artinbox, Prague, 2016) 7xJack (Espace Canopy, Paris, 2016). Recently she collaborated with the Czech Center of Paris on a permanent engraved wood installation Jazzdog Project. Currently she lives and works in Paris. Tereza Lochmann s work revolves around moments of transgression, threshold situations. It explores the fine line that separates humanity and animality, civilization and savagery. The tension between human frailty and violence presents a central axis of her images. There is also a certain amount of a self-mockery. The dog as the most civilized and also the most degenerate animal resurfaces in a more or less important role and becomes a sort of psychopomp guide through all her artistic production.
rain dog is a dog caught in the rain, with its whole trail washed away by the water so he can t get back home. People who live outdoors, people who sleep in doorways, loners knit together by some corporeal way of sharing pain and discomfort.
