G E N E R A L Spa Body Treatment Tips Start on the back of the body and then turn around to do the front. Confirm the treatment type and ensure the client has the correct understanding of the offering. If it s not what she had in mind, change the treatment to the most suitable treatment available. Avoid bumping against the bed or causing disturbing noises whilst massaging. Avoid touching the client with your body other than the part administering the treatment. Be in tune with your client to pick up on unease/ irritation. Ensure the client s hair is covered properly to avoid product in the hair or hair in the way of the treatment. Place a rolled towel under the ankles when the client lies on her stomach and a bolster/ pillow under the knees when the client lies on her back. Offer support with a pillow/ towel under the chest for large-busted clients. Consider contra-indications related to the treatment. Enquire about any specific areas the client wants you to focus on. It is optional to include the stomach for ladies. Ask beforehand. Buttocks can be included for ladies. The stomach and buttocks should be excluded for men, always. 8
R E T A I L Display Tips Not an afterthought, a vital component. Keep it visible, inviting and accessible. Neatly arrange stock on clean displays, sufficiently stocked. Eye level sells. Bottom shelves don t sell well, display gift sets, travel packs here. Less is more, avoid clutter. Shoppers are drawn to uncomplicated displays that tell a story. Decoration prop to retail ratio should be 20% to 80%. Take advantage of collateral material and display provided by your product supplier. Change retail section regulary to keep stock looking fresh and keep customer attention, at least twice a year or with every change of season. Sell from the front and replace stock from the back. Following any sales as products are removed, immediately fill empty spaces. 15-20% of your spa/salon space should be allocated to retail. All products should be priced. 9
