Day 1 Thursday, April 25 th Craft in America Center and LACMA Our tour begins at 3:00pm with an opening reception at the Craft in America Center Executive director Carol Sauvion and director and curator Emily Zaiden will be our hosts. Craft in America is best known for its long running documentary series airing on PBS. There will be time to browse at the FreeHand Gallery which is next door to the Center. For more information, please go to www.craftinamerica.org At 5:00pm we will be at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Textile curator Clarissa Esguerra will be leading us on a private, after hours tour of the exhibit Power of Pattern: Central Asian Ikats from the David and Elizabeth Reisbord Collection. This collection showcases over 60 examples of visually dynamic Central Asian ikat robes and panels. For more information, please go to www.lacma.org The Craft in America Center and LACMA are both about one mile from our hotel. We will be using a shared car service (Uber) to shuttle us between venues. Day 2 Friday, April 26 th Friday in the Fashion District Our day begins at 10:00am at the downtown campus of FIDM - the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising We have scheduled a curator led, behind the scenes tour of the campus museum. This is a rare opportunity to delve into the holdings of a major fashion museum. There will also be opportunity to see the campus. For more information, please go to www.fidmmuseum.org. We will break for a no-host lunch at a local eatery at about 12:00pm. 1

After lunch we will divide up into smaller groups and take a private walking tour of the nearby Fashion District - from 1:30pm-4:30pm We will have the opportunity to explore well known fabric outlets as well as lesser known notion and accessory shops. Wear your walking shoes! There will be about 2 miles of walking over the course of the afternoon. For more information, please go to www.fashiondistrict.org. FIDM and the Fashion District are approximately 10 miles from our hotel. We will be using a shared car service (Uber) to shuttle us between venues. The evening is open. Day 3 Saturday, April 27th The Fowler Museum at UCLA and the Getty Villa Today is a full day as our chartered bus picks us up at the hotel 10:00am and takes us to the Fowler Museum on the UCLA campus. We will be attending the 11:00am lecture given by guest curator, Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood, Director of the Textile Research Center in Leiden, The Netherlands. The lecture presents an in-depth discussion of the exhibit Dressed with Distinction: Garments from Ottoman Syria. The garments on exhibit are from the David and Elizabeth Reisbord Collection. After the lecture we will have time to tour the exhibit and attend the accompanying book signing and reception. Joanna Barrkman, Senior Curator of Southeast Asian and Pacific Arts at the Fowler, will be leading us on a private tour of the museum s Borneo textile exhibit, highlighting the influence of global trade. For more information, please go to www.fowler.ucla.edu We will have lunch on the grounds of the campus. A boxed lunch is included in the cost of the tour. After lunch we will be traveling up into the Malibu Hills to visit the Getty Villa. Designed as an ancient Roman Villa, the Getty Villa is a unique experience, not to be missed. We will be taking a private tour of the grounds and gardens. For more information, please go to www.getty.edu then click on The Getty Villa. Today we will be using private, chartered bus transportation. This is included in the cost of the tour. Day 4 Sunday, April 28th Sunday Brunch and the Getty Center 2

We begin our day at 9:00am to honor the institution of Sunday Brunch. We will be dining al fresco under the cabanas at Tart our hotel restaurant. After three days of touring, we will have a chance to unwind and connect with fellow travelers. Brunch is included in the cost of the tour. Alcoholic beverages can be ordered separately. We will leave the hotel by 10:30am to arrive at the Getty Center for our 11:30am private tour Charissa Bremer-David, curator in the department of Sculpture and Decorative Arts, will be leading us on a private tour of the Getty Museum tapestries. The TAC portion of the tour ends after the conclusion of the curator tour (approximately 1:00pm) After the tour, there will be the opportunity to explore the mountain top expanse of the Getty Center. For more information, please go to www.getty.edu/visit/center/ Tour members who will be traveling home on Sunday can leave their luggage in baggage check at the hotel. We suggest taking a flight later in the evening (7:00pm or later) so you have a chance to explore the Getty Center. The Getty Center is about 10 miles from our hotel.
