2014 REGIONAL Ski11sUSA-Ohio CHAMPIONSHIPS Purpose NAIL CARE COMPETITION To evaluate each contestant's preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of cosmetology. FIRST, REFER TO THE GENERAL REGULATIONS CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS Contestants will wear the school uniform All contestants must have an Emergency Medical Form turned into the technical Committee member upon checkin!!!!

MODELS Official SKILLS dress, as described under General Regulations, minus the Blazer. All models must be an active Skills member in any trade industry, but not limited to Cosmetology. Contestants Please cover your name on your uniform ATTENTION: Absolutely no tip blenders or blending is allowed!!! No Gum No Cell Phones in contest site!! No pagers in contest site!! Polish removal in art is included in time!! All Work will be done on the right hand!! Left Hand may be done prior to contest!! OPI RED POLISH (# 72) ( All contestants must use this polish for the polish application only. OPI Red may be removed for the nail art application only after judging is complete.) Nail Art Supplies Bring Necessary items needed for wearable nail art. Base or top coat will be allowed for NAIL ART section ONLY! Cushion for chair Fine tip art brush Polish corrector pen Oil can be used ONLY after JUDGING is complete. Hand Lotion/Creme can be used ONLY after JUDGING is complete NOTE: The acrylic polymer and acrylic monomer used for the sculptured application must be odorless and produced by the same manufacture. The resin and catalyst used for the tip and wrap application must be from the same manufacturer. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Any other items brought by the contestant must be declared at the time of the pre-contest site kit check. Scope of the Contest Contestants will demonstrate their ability to perform jobs or skills selected from the following list of competencies IMPORTANT DETAILED GUIDELINES FOR EACH COMPETITIVE APPLICATION ARE ATTACHED. THE CONTESTANT WILL BE JUDGED ON THE SPECIFIC CRITERIA IN EACH APPLICATION. 1. Initial degree of difficulty (Pre judged before the start of the contest at the contest site.) Based on the condition and characteristic of natural nails. 2. Initial Preparation (Pre judged before the start of the contest at the contest site.) Table Setup

A. Setup can consist of items needed for the specific contest application in progress (i.e.,sculptured in progress, tip and wrap and nail art materials should not be visible at this time. Time will be allowed between each contest to reset the table. B. All products and solutions must be properly identified with the manufacturers original packaging and original labeling. C. Product labels cannot be defaced. D. Required tools and products must be accounted for and professionally organized. E. Sanitation solutions must be labeled properly. P. Contestants will be required to verify their accessibility to all sanitation and disinfectant products for their use throughout the competition. Note: Any product that appears to have been altered, as determined by the Technical committee, will be just cause for the contestant to be disqualified from the competition. 3. Models A. Hands must be properly prepped. B. No jewelry is allowed during the competition (ring, bracelets or watches.) C. Models and contestants will use hand sanitizer in the contest area. Wearable Nail Art Application Explanation of Wearable Nail Art/ Must be in paragraph form and in a plastic sheet protector. Wearable Nail Art means artwork that is appropriate for a customer to wear every day without any difficulty in the using of their hands. All nail painting and artwork must be done during the wearable nail art contest. NOTE ** Items not allowed 1. Gems, skins, feathers, rhinestones, glitters, threads, fabrics, foils, beads, tapes, jewelry. No 3D art, airbrushing, decals/stencils or cast moldings will be allowed. 2. Electric drills 3.
