HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Potential Health Effects This product contains, as an active ingredient, desmopressin acetate. It is a synthetic analogue of the natural human hormone arginine vasopressin. This is a biologically active pharmaceutical product with specific therapeutic effects. It is licensed by the FDA for certain medical indications and is only to be administered as prescribed by a licensed physician. No adverse health effects anticipated with normal handling and use in appropriate medical setting. Medical implications of therapeutic use are described in product package insert or may be found in the Physicians Desk Reference. Emergency Overview: This product is a sterile prescription pharmaceutical. It is to be administered only at the order of a licensed physician. This product is safe when used for its intended purpose and administered as directed by a physician. In addition, no adverse health effects are anticipated as a result of incidental contact or exposure to this product by those handling it or administering it in a therapeutic setting. If irritation or other symptoms develop, seek medical attention. Ingestion Rinse from mouth and seek medical guidance. Induce vomiting only as directed by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Inhalation If inhaled, remove to fresh air. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop or if breathing is difficult. 5. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Toxicology Text This is a sterile, aqueous solution containing the synthetic analogue of the human hormone ardinine vasopressin, a preservative, and osmotic and ph adjustment agents. It is not expected to be toxic is accidently ingested in small quantities. This product is to be administered as a nasal spray. This product may be irritating if sprayed in the eyes, or on the skin of sensitive individuals, due to its ph. Any irritation or other physiological changes associated with the medical administration of this product should be discussed with the treating physician. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION No ecological damage or persistence in the environment expected under normal conditions of use or with proper disposal.
