03. Safety Instructions Intended use The men's shaver is intended exclusively for trimming human hair. The shaver is designed for private home use and must not be used for commercial purposes. The shaver must only be used indoors. Possible misuse Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be carried out by children without supervision. Children younger than 8 years must be kept away from the appliance and power supply cord. Do not use the device to cut artificial hair or animal hair. DANGER for children Instructions for a safe operation Children must not play with packaging material. Do not allow children to play with plastic bags. Danger of suffocation! Symbol on appliance and display DANGER of electric shock as a result of moisture The hand-held shaver can be rinsed under running water. In order not to forget regular cleaning of the shaving unit, this symbol will flash on the display for approx. 1 s when switching on the appliance. DANGER! Disconnect the power supply from the shaver first. Only use the included original wall power supply for mains operation. This device may be used by children older than 8 years, people with reduced physical, sensory or mental faculties, as well as people without experience or who do not know the device. This applies as long as they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the device and have understood the related dangers. 4 Do not use this device with the wall power supply connected in the vicinity of bathtubs, showers, washbasins or other vessels containing water (see also chapter 6; Notes: Wet & Dry). Protect the cable and the wall power supply from moisture, dripping water or splash water. Do not operate the device with the wall power supply connected if your hands are wet. Do not immerse the cable and the wall power supply in water or other liquids or rinse them under running water. Unplug the wall power supply from the power point before cleaning the shaver and its parts under running water. If the device has fallen into water, pull out the wall power supply immediately, and only then remove the device from the water. Do not use the device again, but have it checked by a specialist. 5

If the device is used in a bathroom, the cord connecting the device to the mains power must be pulled out after use, as the proximity of water represents a hazard, even when the device is switched off. Installation of a residual current device (FI/RCD) with a rated residual operating current of no more than 30 ma is recommended to provide additional protection. Ask your electrician for advice. The installation should only be carried out by a qualified electrician. DANGER of electric shock 6 Do not operate the shaver if the shaver, the wall power supply or the cable shows visible signs of damage or if the shaver has been dropped. Connect the cable to the shaver before plugging the wall power supply into a power point. Only connect the wall power supply to a properly installed easy to access power point supplying voltage matching the rating plate. The power point must still be easily accessible after connection. Ensure that the cable cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot surfaces. Ensure that the cable is not trapped or crushed. Always pull at the wall power supply and never pull on the cable when unplugging the wall power supply. Remove the wall power supply from the power point after each use, after each charging process, if a fault occurs, before connecting the device to the cable, before cleaning the shaver and during thunderstorms. To avoid any risk, do not make any changes to the shaver or accessories. Do not replace the cable yourself either. Repairs should only be carried out by a specialist or our Service Centre. DANGER! To be observed when handling lithium-ion batteries Improper use may lead to injuries and material damages! Fire and explosion risk in case of non-compliance. The following safety instructions are to be observed to ensure safe handling of lithium-ion batteries: Charge the appliance with the original wall power supply only. Protect the lithium-ion batteries from mechanical damages. Fire/explosion hazard! Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight or heat. If the appliance heats to more than 125 C, the cells may catch fire and/or explode. Should the appliance be in vicinity of a source of fire or catch fire itself, usual extinguishing agents can be used (ABC powder extinguishers, CO2 extinguishers or water). Lithium-ion batteries contain flammable and corrosive solutions and lithium salts. In case of leakage, these can lead to irritation of the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Venting of lithium-ion batteries generates vapours which may present a hazard to health. If fluid leaks out of the lithium-ion batteries, avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin as well as inhaling vapours. The affected area must be immediately rinsed with plenty of clean water. Consult a doctor in any case. Leaked fluids must be absorbed by means of an absorbent and disposed of properly. Open cells are hazardous waste and must therefore be disposed of properly. 7

WARNING! Risk of injury Place the cable in such a way that no one trips over it or steps on it! Do not use the device on open wounds, cuts, sunburn or blisters. Do not operate the shaver if the device or cutting elements are damaged or defective. The cutting blades are sharp. Handle with care. Keep the shaver away from your eyes. Always switch off the shaver before cleaning it. CAUTION! Risk of material damage Use the original accessories only. Never place the shaver on hot surfaces (e.g. hob plates) or near heat sources or open fire. Do not cover the wall power supply to prevent overheating. In order to avoid damages to the shaving foil, do not exert excessive pressure on the shaving foil. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. NOTE: We advise you not to use shaving gel, since this may cause the shaving foil and cutting blades to stick to each other. 04. Charging NOTES: Before first operation of the shaver in battery mode, you should recharge the shaver for at least 90 minutes. In order to maximise the battery life, you should allow the batteries to completely discharge before recharging them. 8 The shaver runs on 1 lithium-ion battery with overcharge protection. The battery can be charged without capacity loss and danger of overcharging. Please note that the battery capacity will decrease during extended periods of storage. For this reason, long recharging times should be avoided because of the interruption between the charging and discharging cycles. 1. Place the shaver on a level surface. 2. Connect the wall power supply to the shaver. 3. Insert the wall power supply into an easily accessible power point. 4. The LCD lights up red, the plug symbol is permanently displayed and the battery symbol fills. The LCD changes from red to blue if 10% charging capacity has been reached. The charging capacity is further displayed in steps of 10%. 5. After a charging period of approx. 90 minutes, the battery has reached its full capacity. The battery symbol is completely filled and 100% capacity displayed. 6. Once the batteries are fully charged, the shaver can be used in battery mode for about 95 minutes. 7. Unplug the power cable from the power point and from the shaver as soon as the batteries are fully recharged. 8. This shaver features a quick-charge function. It takes 5 minutes and will last for a single shave. 9. If your shaver stops during shaving due to its batteries being insufficiently charged, you can continue shaving by connecting it to a power point. 9

05. Travel Lock Function The shaver can easily be protected against accidental activation, e.g. when travelling. NOTE: The travel lock function can only be activated when the appliance is switched off. When charging is started, the travel lock function will be deactivated automatically. 1. In order to use the connected to the mains power, ensure that the shaver is switched off. 2. Connect the wall power supply to the shaver. 3. Insert the wall power supply into an easily accessible power point. 4. Take off the protective cap. 5. Use the on / off switch ; (7) to switch on the shaver. Shave How to activate the travel lock function 1. Switch off the shaver. 2. Press and hold the on/off switch ; (7) for more than 5 s. The switch of the shaver is locked. 3. Briefly press the on/off switch a few times (for less than 5 s) to check if the travel lock function has been activated. If the travel lock function is active, a padlock symbol will flash on the display. 4. The on/off switch is temporarily without function; accidental activation of the appliance and discharging of the battery are prevented. LOCK How to deactivate the travel lock function 1. Press and hold the on/off switch ; (7) for more than 5 s; the travel lock function is deactivated and the shaver ready for use. 2. The travel lock function will also be deactivated by connecting the shaver to the mains. 06. Operation WARNING! Risk of injury Do not operate the shaver if the shaving foil is damaged. Independent of the charging state of the batteries, you are always able to use the shaver connected to the mains power. 10 NOTES: The shaver is suited for dry as well as wet shaves (Wet & Dry). ATTENTION! The shaver is not waterproof. The wet shave may only be operated as cordless and never use in the shower or in the bathtub. Initial applications may result in a temporary redness or irritation of the skin, since the skin must first get used to this type of shaving. This is normal and usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks. 1. Remove the protective cap / 3-day stubble attachment (2) from the shaving head. 2. Use the on / off switch ; (7) to switch on the shaver. 3. Hold the shaver at a right angle to the surface of the skin and move it carefully and in circular motion over your face. 4. Shave against the direction of beard growth. 5. At parts of the face that are harder to shave, such as the chin, stretch the skin for a better result. 6. After shaving, switch off the shaver and clean the cutting elements carefully. ( 7. Cleaning and Care) Trimming Long Hair Use the hair trimmer on the rear of the shaver to shorten beard and sideburns. 11

1. Take off the protective cap. 2. Push the hair trimmer upward. 3. Use the on / off switch ; (7) to switch on the shaver. 4. After use, switch off the shaver, push the hair clipper into its basic position and clean the shaver. ( 7. Cleaning and Care) Three-day stubble shave 1. You can use the 3-day stubble attachment (2) to trim your beard to a hair length of 3 mm. 2. Place the beard attachment onto the shaving head so that it is firmly attached to it. 3. Trim your beard as you would normally do when shaving. NOTES: Observe that the 3-day stubble attachment is intended only to limit the beard hair growth to a length of 3 mm, and that it is not designed to trim longer hair to 3 mm. When using the 3-day stubble attachment, the direct contact of the shaving foil to the skin is lost. Consequently, the shaving system is no longer naturally greased by sebum. 4. To ensure constant shaving performance, apply a drop of blade or sewing machine oil after wet cleaning. See section Cleaning with Water. 12 07. Cleaning and Care DANGER! Risk of injury and material damage Remove the wall power supply from the power point before cleaning the shaver. Never submerge the entire shaver in water. Dry Cleaning WARNING! Always switch off the shaver before cleaning it. CAUTION! Risk of material damage Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. Do not remove the shaving foil from the shaving foil frame and do not clean it with the brush. The cutting blades must not be removed for cleaning purposes. The springs located underneath the cutting blades might jump out and get lost. Remove the cutting blades for replacement purposes only (see "Replacing Parts", page 15). NOTE: Clean the shaver after every use to guarantee optimal results. 1. Press the lateral unlocking buttons (5) and remove the shaving foil frame (3). 2. Tap out the shaving foil frame on an even surface and/or blow it out. 3. Press the lateral unlocking button (6); the shaving foil frame opens. 4. Use the cleaning brush to clean the cutting blades. 13

Cleaning with water: 08. Replacement Parts You can comfortably clean the shaving head of your shaver by rinsing it under running water (see fig.). 1. Press the unlocking button (6); the shaving head frame opens. 2. Hold the appliance so that the cutting blades point down at an angle. The risk of water entering the inside of the appliance will thus be reduced. The water temperature should not exceed 70 C. 3. If you prefer rinsing the appliance under running water, you may also add a few drops of usual liquid soap. To achieve more intense cleaning results, switch the appliance on. Cutting elements are subject to natural wear and excluded from the warranty. For optimal shaving a replacement in good time is essential. You are able to reorder the following replacement parts: 2 cutting blades Shaving foil (shaving foil frame with 2 shaving foils and integrated hair clipper) Set containing the afore-mentioned replacement parts (shaving foil and 2 cutting blades) CAUTION! The housing may be cleaned with a damp cloth; however, the shaver must not be immersed in water! 4. Allow the shaver to dry before closing the shaving head frame and reattaching the protective cap. 5. The shaving head frame must be touched on the sides only and pressed down until the fixing clips lock in place. CAUTION! Do not use force and do not apply pressure on the shaving foil! NOTE: From time to time, place a few drops of acid-free oil (such as sewing machine oil) onto the cutting blades and the hair clipper. Let the device run for a couple of seconds without using it. Using a soft cloth, wipe off the surplus oil, if necessary. 14 Recommended Replacement Intervals We recommend replacing shaving foils once a year and the cutting blades every 12 18 months to ensure an optimal shave. Since both cutting elements adjust in time, it is recommended to replace shaving foil and cutting blade simultaneously. The replacement parts can be ordered via the Service Centre. Replacing Parts 1. Take off the protective cap. 2. Press the unlocking buttons (5) and remove the shaving foil frame. 3. Grasp the old cutting blades at both ends between thumb and index finger and pull them carefully off the shaver. 4. Take the new cutting blades at both ends between thumb and index finger and push them into the white holding device. Press the cutting blades completely and briefly down once until they audibly lock into place. 5. Carefully press the new shaving foil frame into the shaving head frame until it locks in place with an audible click. 15

WARNING! Risk of lacerations! To carefully detach both cutting blades from the white plastic holding device, grasp the cutting blade at both ends between thumb and index finger and pull it off the plastic holding device. CAUTION! Risk of material damage! When pulling off the cutting blades, Spring remember the spring located between cutting blade and white plastic holding device. After removal of the cutting blades, carefully put the appliance aside to ensure that the spring will not fall out (see fig.). 09. Technical Data DANGER! Risk of injury and material damage Do not attempt to repair the shaver yourself. Always remove the wall power supply from the socket whenever a fault occurs. Fault: Please check the following: No function Is there power to the power point? Batteries low? The shaving performance diminishes Cutting blade cleaned and oiled? 11.
