Lot: 1 51st (2nd Yorkshire, West Riding) Kingâ s Own Light Infantry George IV Officerâ s shoulder belt plate circa 1821. A very fine and rare example. Seeded gilt rope edged rectangular plate mounted with silver crowned laurel wreath and lower â Ich Deanâ scroll; within the wreath, a strung bugle with â 51â between the cords. Reverse retains two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. A little polishing to silver high points otherwise VGC. (Parkyn 407) In 1821, the facings were changed from grass-green to blue on account of the regiment 105th (Madras Light Infantry) Regiment Officerâ s Victorian receiving the title â The Kingâ s Own Light Infantryâ ; Officers were instructed to wear embroidery instead of lace. Estimate: 800.00-1,000.00 Lot: 2 51st (2nd Yorkshire, West Riding) Kingâ s Own Light Infantry Victorian Officerâ s pre 1855 shoulder belt plate. A very fine and scarce example. Seeded gilt rectangular plate mounted with large silver Guelphic crowned laurel wreath entwined with battle honours and central French horn with seeded â 51â to centre. Crimson velvet cap to the crown. Reverse retains two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom as well as the original leather liner bearing paper label of â Moore, Late Bicknells & Moore. Finely seeded gilt rectangular plate with burnished rim mounted with large silver-gilt Guelphic crowned laurel wreath entwined with battle honours and central French horn with seeded â 51â to centre. Reverse retains two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. VGC (KK 203) In 1861 the 2nd Madras (European) Reverse retains four broad hooks. Some polishing and service wear. ORâ s cross belt plates were abolished in 1850 upon the introduction of the waist belt. A very good scarce brass example. Circlet inscribed â The Kingâ s On Light Infantryâ ; â 51â to lined centre. Plain belt loops. VGC. Lot: 7 Officerâ s pre 1881 waist belt clasp. A very fine scarce example of special pattern. Central gilt disc mounted silver coiled bugle horn couched within crowned sprays of laurel and palm, the horn with central floreate numerals â 105, on the curl of the horn â Madras Light Infty.. A scroll on the junction of the leaf sprays â Cede Nullis. Rich gilt oakleaf ends. Detachable end with different bench number otherwise VGC. (Ryan 155) In 1861 the 2nd Madras (European) Regiment was transferred to the British Establishment as the 105th (Madras Light Infantry) Regiment, becoming the 2nd Battalion, The Kingâ s Own Light Infantry (South Yorkshire Regiment) in 1881 Lot: 8 105th (Madras Light Infantry) Regiment Officerâ s shako plate circa 1861-69. A very fine rare die-stamped gilt example. Crowned star mounted with a coiled bugle horn couched within sprays of laurel and palm, the horn with central floreate numerals â 105â on a gilt ground, on the curl of the horn â Madras Light Infty.. A scroll on the junction of the leaf sprays â Cede Nullis. Two loops to reverse. Old repair to reverse of crown otherwise VGC. Estimate: 300.00-400.00 Lot: 9 105th (Madras Light Infantry) Regiment Officerâ s helmet plate circa 1878-81. A very fine scarce gilt metal example. Crowned star mounted with full laurel wreath surrounding a coiled bugle horn couched within sprays of laurel and palm, the horn with central floreate numerals â 105â on a ground of black velvet, on the curl of the horn â Madras Light Infty.. A scroll on the Regiment was transferred to the British Establishment as the 105th (Madras Light Infantry) Regiment, becoming the 2nd Battalion, The Kingâ s Own Light Infantry (South Yorkshire Regiment) in 1881 Estimate: 300.00-400.00 Lot: 10 Officerâ s â Albertâ shako plate circa 1844-55. A fine and rare Universal Pattern Victorian Officerâ s waist belt clasp circa example gilt example. Crowned star, the principal rays bearing 1881-1901. A fine gilt example with matching numbers to both battle honours, mounted with a wreath half laurel, half palm; halves. Circlet ornamented with laurel; seeded centre mounted within the wreath a French horn with seeded gilt â 51â to with silver Royal Crest. Ornate ends. VGC (Ryan 162) Mainly domed centre. On the junction of the wreath, a scroll inscribed used for State occasions, LevŽes and Balls. â Peninsula. Reverse retains both original horizontal loops and all four wires behind the crown. Top pearl to crown absent otherwise VGC. During the period this plate was worn, 51st saw service in Van Diemanâ s Land, Burmah and India. Embarked for Malta and the Crimea in the summer of 1855 but the fall of Sebastopol negated the final leg of the journey and it remained in Malta. Provenance. Major Ken Clarke Collection. A fine and scarce rich gilt example. Colonels included Sir George Savile, The Duke of Norfolk and Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black Earl Fitzwilliam. enamel centre bearing silver French horn with central rose. Estimate: 600.00-800.00 Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll â The Kingâ s Own Yorkshire Light Infantryâ. Three loops to reverse. VGC Kingâ s Own Light Infantry (South Yorkshire Regt) redesignated Kingâ s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in 1887. Copper gilt oval plate mounted with raised silver border and crowned strap â Wakefield Local Regt.â ; silver rose to centre. Lot: 18 1st West York Militia Victorian Officerâ s shoulder belt plate circa 1840-55. A very fine and rare example. Silvered rectangular plate mounted with facetted star in turn mounted with gilt crowned Garter, across the tail, an ornate ended scroll â 1st West Yorkâ ; domed silver rose to centre. Reverse with two hooks and two studs. VGC. Formed 21st August, 1759 at Lot: 19 West Yorkshire Rifle Volunteer Corps Victorian NCOâ s pouch badge. A fine and scarce die-stamped silvered example. Crowned French horn with central Rose. Two screw posts to reverse. VGC. Lot: 20 9th West Yorkshire Rifle Volunteer Corps Officerâ s 1860 hallmarked silver waist belt clasp. A fine rare example by JB (Joseph Bent of Bent and Parker fame) with Birmingham hallmarks to both parts. Circlet inscribed â 9th West York Rifle Volr. Corpsâ ; centre mounted with Rose. Universal pattern rococo ends. VGC. Raised 17th November, 1859 at Wakefield, renumbered 5th in July, 1860. Became 1st VB Kingâ s Own Light Infantry (South Yorkshire Regiment) in 1883. Estimate: 300.00-500.00 Lot: 21 Scottish. Highland Cyclist Battalion Officerâ s glengarry badge circa 1909-19 5th VB Black Watch reorganised as 8th (Cyclist) Battalion Black Watch on 1st April 1908. Redesignated Highland Cyclist Battalion in January 1909. Disembodied 3rd December 1919. A very fine and scarce die-stamped silvered and gilt example. Facetted Order of the Thistle Star mounted with a gilt thistle wreath and crowned oval inscribed â Nemo me impune lacessit. To the centre, St. Andrew and his Cross in silver plate. The crown flanked by scrolls inscribed â Highlandâ Kingâ s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Victorian Officerâ s waist â Cyclist. To the base of the cross, a scroll inscribed belt clasp circa 1887-1901. A splendid scarce rich gilt example â Battalionâ, another inscribed â T.F.â Two loops to reverse. with matching numbers to both halves. Circlet inscribed in silver Slight service wear, generally VGC. (KK 1863) 2 of 71

Estimate: 400.00-600.00 Lot: 22 Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Victorian Officerâ s 1895 hallmarked silver waist belt plate. A fine example by H & S bearing Birmingham hallmarks. Silver rectangular seeded plate with burnished edges mounted with Guelphic style crown, mullet, strung bugle and thistle spray. Complete with both belt loops (detachable one also hallmarked). VGC. Lot: 23 Scottish. Black Watch Boer War Officerâ s 1902 hallmarked silver plaid brooch. A very fine example by R & HB Kirkwood, 66 & 68 Thistle St. Edinburgh bearing Edinburgh hallmarks and Kirkwoodâ s thistle logo. Burnished silver quoit with engraved decoration mounted with a heavy thistle wreath. To the centre, St.Andrew and the Cross. Stout pin to reverse. VGC. 42nd Highlanders and 73rd (Perthshire) became 1st and 2nd Battalions Black Watch on 1st July 1881. Estimate: 500.00-600.00 Lot: 24 Scottish. Queenâ s Own Cameron Highlanders Officerâ s 1919 hallmarked silver plaid brooch. A very fine heavy example by B & P (Bent & Parker) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. High relief thistle wreath encircling two scrolls inscribed â Peninsulaâ and â Waterloo. Between the scrolls, the Sphinx resting on a tablet inscribed â Egypt. Stout pin to reverse. VGC. See â Badges of the Highland and Lowland Regimentsâ by W.H. & K.D.Bloomer, Plate 104 for similar example Estimate: 400.00-500.00 Lot: 25 Scottish. Black Watch Victorian Officerâ s 1880/81 hallmarked silver plaid brooch attributed to Thomas Mowbray Martin Berkeley. A very fine example by H.C. & Co (Hamilton, Crichton & Co) bearing Edinburgh hallmarks. Burnished silver quoit with engraved decoration mounted with a heavy thistle wreath. To the centre, St.Andrew and the Cross. Stout pin to reverse which London Scottish Officerâ s 1919 hallmarked silver plaid brooch. is engraved â T.M.B The Black Watchâ and heraldic Bearâ s A very fine example by J & Co (Jennens) bearing Birmingham head on torse. VGC. 42nd Highlanders and 73rd (Perthshire) hallmarks. Plain burnished silver quoit mounted with thistle became 1st and 2nd Battalions Black Watch on 1st July 1881. wreath and surmounted by a crown whose cross extending Thomas Mowbray Martin Berkeley, born 11th November, 1859; above the quoit. To the centre, a Lion Rampant; below the commissioned 13th August 1879 106th transferring to the same wreath, a scroll inscribed â The London Scottish. Stout pin to month to 73rd Highlanders, promoted Lieutenant 1st July 1881, reverse. VGC. See The Uniform of the London Scottish 1859-2nd Bn. Black Watch. Served in Soudan Expedition 1884-5. 1959 by Robson, page 26 (medal and Star). Promoted Captain 29th January, 1887. Estimate: 400.00-500.00 Served as Adjutant to 1st VB Black Watch from 1890-95. Obtained is Majority 1st April, 1896. South Africa saw him as a Brevet Lt. Col. fought on advance on Kimberley, wounded slightly at Magersfontein, severely at Paardeberg. MID 1901 Estimate: 600.00-800.00 Lot: 26 Scottish. 74th (Highlanders) Regiment Officerâ s undress 1866 hallmarked silver plaid brooch. A very fine example by J.K bearing Edinburgh hallmarks. Silver quoit mounted with an elephant standing on a scroll inscribed â Assaye. Stout pin to reverse. VGC. 74th became 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry on Friday 1st July 1881 Lot: 27 Scottish. Seaforth Highlanders Victorian Officerâ s 1884 silver hallmarked plaid brooch. A very fine quality example by R & HB Kirkwood,Thistle St. Edinburgh bearing Edinburgh hallmarks and Kirkwoodâ s thistle logo. Thistle wreath mounted with silver Coronet, HRH Duke of Albanyâ s cypher and stagâ s head in high relief. The wreath bears 15 battle honours up to â Afghanistan. Original stout pin to reverse which bears scratched initials D. F-S. VGC. Estimate: 500.00-600.00 Lot: 28 Scottish. Highland Light Infantry Officerâ s 1911 hallmarked silver plaid brooch. A fine example by J & Co (Jennens) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. Quoit with engraved edge mounted with thistle wreath bearing 30 battle honours to â Modder Riverâ and â South Africa 1899-1901. To the centre, a cut silver Star of the Order of the Thistle; mounted on the Star, a crown with a curled bugle horn below, â HLIâ monogram to the centre. Beneath the horn, a scroll inscribed â Assayeâ with the Elephant below. Original stout pin to reverse which bears scratched name â D.D. Barry. VGC. Estimate: 500.00-600.00 Lot: 29 Scottish.
