The end-pint assessment is carried ut by an Independent Assessment Examiner, appinted by the assessment rganisatin, wh will bserve the learner carrying ut a practical assessment f the mandatry skills set ut in the Hair Prfessinal standard. The Independent Assessment Examiner will als ask questins while the practical assessment is taking place t ensure that the knwledge and behaviurs cntained within the Hair Prfessinal standards are als assessed. The verall grade (pass / distinctin) fr the apprenticeship will be determined by the end-pint assessment. There are three stages as detailed belw: On Prgramme Stage Cntinual develpment f the skills, knwledge and behaviurs required t meet the mandatry and ptinal sectins f the standard and the qualificatin fr either f the chsen rutes : Hairdressing Barbering Observatins and knwledge tests will be used t assess skills, knwledge and behaviurs required fr the qualificatin during the n-prgramme stage Prfessinalism, behaviurs and values, cmmunicatin and safe wrking practices will be embedded int the qualificatin and nprgramme asssessment Gateway Stage The learner must have successfully cmpleted the nprgramme assessment requirements, cmpleting all the units f the qualificatin, befre taking the end-pint assessment which is the final stage f the apprenticeship Emplyer decides the timing f the endpint assessment, in cnsultatin with the Training Prvider (where apprpriate) End pint Assessment Stage End-pint assessment f the mandatry skills, knwledge and behaviurs specified in the standards via: A practical assessment Oral questining The practical assessment and ral questining will assess the learner's prfessinalism, values, behaviurs, cmmunicatin, safe wrking practices and cnsultatin skills. This will be when the emplyer, in cnsultatin with the training prvider if apprpriate, cnsiders the learner can cnsistently demnstrate the skills, knwledge and behaviurs required f a cmpetent hairdresser r barber, as set ut in the Hair Prfessinal standard. This wuld be based n a cntinuus review by the emplyer and training prvider f the learner s prgress and perfrmance. The learner will typically have been n the apprenticeship prgramme fr 24 mnths befre being entered fr the end-pint assessment. The minimum duratin fr the apprenticeship prgramme is 12 mnths. The learner will demnstrate he/she can cmplete a range f services n a number f mdels t industry standards and within cmmercial timings. The learner s cnsultatin skills, cmmunicatin skills, safe wrking practices, prfessinalism, values and behaviurs will be assessed by practical bservatin and ral questining. Rute 1: Hairdressing end-pint assessment The learner will be assessed carrying ut cnsultatin fr all services cmpleted during the assessment. The learner must shamp and cnditin hair as part f at least ne service f the end assessment, this maybe mre as apprpriate. Independent Assessment Examiners Hair Prfessinal Assessment Plan 2016 Assessment Organisatins n the Register f Apprentice Assessment Organisatins are respnsible fr ensuring the end-pint assessment is carried ut t meet the criteria detailed in this Assessment Plan. As the Hair Prfessinal apprenticeship includes a qualificatin and this is part f the end-pint assessment, Assessment Organisatins must als be Awarding Organisatins, apprved by Ofqual fr delivery f the Diplma fr Hair Prfessinals (Hairdressing/Barbering). Independent Assessment Examiners (IAE) are required t meet the fllwing criteria. This must be f sufficient depth t be effective and reliable when verifying judgements abut assessment prcesses and decisins. 5 years current hands n experience f wrking as a hairdresser r barber at a senir level in a cmmercial saln wuld prvide sufficient experience The Independent Assessment Examiner must have an in-depth knwledge f the endpint assessment, the relevant part f the qualificatin and the grading criteria required. They must be cmmitted t uphlding the integrity f the standard. The Independent Assessment Examiner shuld have access t, and be engaging with, cntinuus prfessinal develpment activities in rder t keep up t date with develpments and any issues relevant t the end-pint assessment. The Independent Assessment Examiner shuld prvide sufficient evidence t demnstrate current practical cmpetence and cntinual prfessinal develpment as a Hair Prfessinal. The Independent Assessment Examiner will be accuntable t the registered Assessment Organisatin which has cntracted their services End-pint assessments can nly be cnducted by an Independent Assessment Examiner wh has nt been invlved with training the apprentice and wh is nt cnnected t the training prvider, cllege r emplyer. Any cnflicts f interest must be declared.
