( 7.6 x 47 x 66.7 cm ) N-YHS, 3 / Storage - Processing Blue and white pin striped cotton single-breasted jacket; blue wool double collar with trumpet insignia at both corners with "2" at the center, collar buttons to the shirt; 4 buttons down the front; closed sleeves with dark blue wool closed cuffs with 3 buttons against a vertical yellow stripe, gilt chevron at each shoulder which is fastened to the sleeve with metal hooks, chevron above two 8-pointed stars; a pocket at each breast with flaps which button closed; breast and cuff buttons (unmarked) cast with same insignia as collar; 2 panels at the back. This jacket was worn by (1833-1900) while he served in the 2nd Battalion, Cazadores Voluntarios de Matanzas, during the Cuban insurrection of 1867. Emilio was the son of Miguel and Catherina (Bou) Buch, natives of Barcelona, Spain. They moved to Matanzas, Cuba around 1833. ( 5.7 x 26.7 x 18.1 cm ) N-YHS, 3 / Storage - Processing Blue felt forage cap with oval crown with soft top, and rigid sides surrounded by green felt band with two horizontal strips of dark gray braid; black patent leather visor which is flat with rounded edge; metal number "2" pinned to front of cap; black patent leather chin strap secured at either side by a button embossed with number "2"; brown leather sweatband and green textile lining. According to the accession records, this cap was worn by the the donor's father, (1833-1900), while serving as a volunteer in the 2nd Battalion, Cazadores Voluntarios de Matanzas, during the Cuban insurrection of the 1860s. lived in New York City after his marriage, in 1870, to Eliza Baldwin. 1

( 94.6 x 12.1 x 7.9 cm ) Sword with narrow, slightly curved, single-edged steel blade with three fullers, one broad and two narrow, and etched designs on obverse and reverse; brass half-basket hilt with grip covered in fish skin and wrapped with wire; counter-guard with shield surmounted by crown molded in relief on obverse side and hinged piece on reverse side; helmet-shaped pommel with leaf border and leaf-molded top surmounted by flattened ball finial; brass strip extends from pommel to brass ferrule at base of grip; white metal scabbard with two carrying rings and asymmetrical drag.
