In-Cosmetics Barcelona, from April 4 th to 6 th, 2006 Orgasol Soft Focus: more light and fewer noticeable wrinkles Arkema now offers Orgasol Soft Focus for cosmetics formulations intended for the optical lifting of wrinkles. With its extremely narrow particle size distribution, this grade makes its way into the wrinkles to play the role of micro-reflectors, thereby lighting up the dark areas to give an unmistakable lift to the skin. Thanks to its nature and its spheroidal shape, Orgasol Soft Focus diffuses light on the skin s surface. Its fine particle size (around 5 µm) also means that it can penetrate the wrinkles and make up countless light diffusing sites, lighting up the dark areas and reducing the appearance of the wrinkles. Unlike conventional pigments and fillers used to mask skin imperfections, Orgasol Soft Focus particles do not form an opaque layer on the skin s surface, but instead ensure a natural look. The properties of Orgasol Soft Focus ultrafine powders have been demontrated and validated by a sensory evaluation conducted by an independent laboratory. The visual findings have also been confirmed by the fringe spatter method, conducted in vivo on crows feet. Involving twenty subjects, the statistical analysis of the results has highlighted the antiwrinkle properties of a corrector stick containing Orgasol Soft Focus. In-Cosmetics Barcelona, from April 4 th to 6 th, 2006 Orgasol Touch: for ever lighter and comfortable formulations Launched in 2005, Orgasol Touch continues to innovate, bearing out its suitability for today s trends in the world cosmetics market: creamy, light and non-greasy formulations and textures which combine comfort of use and effectiveness while retaining a natural look. With its spherical and microporous structure, the Orgasol Touch range brings unique sensory benefits to skincare products and sun lotions, by considerably improving the products textures, flow and application. It reduces the greasy and oily nature associated with rich skincare creams and waterproof sun lotions. In particular, it helps solve the problem of shine and eliminate the sticky sensation that is often typical of these products. The Orgasol Touch range can also be used successfully in formulations suiting the trends of Asian markets, which seek sophisticated and ultra-light textures. Orgasol Touch imparts a creamy texture to these formulations without impairing their light touch. It improves the flow, and leaves a smooth, light and mattifying powder film on the skin. It is the ideal component for imparting to high factor sun formulations, much in demand in Asia, greater comfort and look as part of everyday skincare while also reducing their whitish residual finish. Orgasol and Cosmetics: an ongoing story! In-Cosmetics Barcelona from April 4 th to 6 th, 2006 For some 30 years, Arkema s ultrafine polyamide powders, marketed under the tradename Orgasol, have been widely known and recognised in the world of cosmetics. This success story began on 8 July 1977, and is still ongoing. The In-Cosmetics 2006 tradeshow offers Arkema the opportunity to demonstrate once again its capacity for innovation in a highly demanding market by offering two new concepts: Orgasol Touch and Orgasol Soft Focus. On 8 July 1977, the first polymerisation, in Mont, is a success: one tonne of polyamide PA 12 below 40µm is produced, and the first Orgasol grade makes its appearance. It will be sold to Japan for the first known application of Orgasol : the manufacture of compact make-up powders.
1980s: Orgasol conquers the world 1980: creation of a dedicated plant and first industrial production of Orgasol 1981: 12 tonnes of Orgasol are sold, including over 7 in Japan and 4.5 in France The commercial adventure of Orgasol only truly began in the 1980s in Japan, a country historically partial to pressed powder. Sales later extended throughout Europe and the United States to the manufacturers of major cosmetics brands. 1990s: Industrialisation on a larger scale Boxes of compact powder containing Orgasol Copyrights: Arkema (ref 6850) This period saw a number of operations increasing the capacity of the Mont plant, both for product synthesis and for post-treatment stages. 2000s: Orgasol renewed expansion Eager to follow the development of the market, Arkema acquired the necessary formulation expertise to launch new concepts: Orgasol Touch and Orgasol Soft Focus. 2007: Increase in Orgasol production capacity ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some 30 years of unchallenged success! Unique process and unique properties Orgasol is a range of ultrafine polyamide powders obtained by polymerisation of lauryl or caprolactame, in the presence of additives exclusively of vegetable or synthetic origin, using a patented process.
The originality of the synthesis process produces a very narrow particle size distribution in Orgasol powders, while ensuring a very different structure and morphology from those of crushed powders. Orgasol powders stand out by their very soft touch, a softness produced by the spheroidal shape of the particles. Another unique characteristic: with their micro-porous structure, Orgasol particles feature a huge capacity for adsorbing both hydrophilic and lipophilic substances. A specific grade for every single application For the cosmetics industry, Orgasol powders have the advantage of combining several functions: they impart a very soft texture to the products, mattify while allowing the skin to breathe, help compact the powders, and facilitate the application and penetration of the products. Arkema offers an extensive range of Orgasol porosity and particle diameter. powders, with grades differing in shape, Orgasol applications Orgasol Soft Focus Orgasol Touch: in cosmetics applications Face cream Skincare and Copyrights: Arkema Copyrights: Arkema (ref formulation suntan (ref 6847) OSF05) Copyrights: preparations Arkema (ref Copyrights: Arkema OSF04) (ref 6850) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Arkema s commitment to the cosmetics industry An efficient plant to accompany an exacting market
With its Mont facility, Arkema offers the cosmetics market a production facility integrating the manufacture of lactame and polyamide powders. The synergy between the monomer and the Orgasol powder production plants promotes the development of new applications. The Mont facility has a sound quality policy as it is ISO 9002 (version 2000) accredited, and has always endorsed the protection of the environment. The ISO 14001 certification dates back to 1998. Mont is covered by the «Safety in Action» programme set up by Arkema, which concerns the identification and management of industrial risks. Permanent collaboration between Arkema s Cerdato Research Centre (Eure, France), the nearby GRL (Lacq Research Complex) and in particular the sensory analysis laboratory, underpins the ongoing evolution of the Orgasol product range to meet the needs of the highly demanding cosmetics market. www.orgasolcosmetics.com *** A global chemical player, Arkema combines 3 related and integrated business segments: Vinyl Products, Industrial Chemicals, and Performance Products.
