Almond Oil - Pale yellow, almost odorless and has excellent emollient (soothing) properties. It is rich in minerals, vitamins, and proteins. It is especially suited to dry, sensitive and irritated skin Shea Butter - Cream-colored, soft substance which is a highly emollient, skin- softening additive. The lighter, refined butter is less fragrant. Shea butter protects the skin from both environmental and free-radical damage. It contains vitamins A and E, and has demonstrated both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Cocoa Butter - This emollient butter is one of the most stable, highly concentrated natural fats known, and melts at body temperature so that it is readily absorbed. When applied topically, it creates a barrier between sensitive skin and the environment and also helps retain moisture. Beeswax - It is used as a thickener and adds a sweet, honey-like fragrance and golden color Essential Oils for fragrance and Vitamin E as a preservative
The Next Step Melt and Mix Add solid oils (shea and cocoa butters) and beeswax together Heat in microwave Use 1-2 minute increments until just melted Add liquid oil and stir Add Essential Oils and Vitamin E. Mix well.
The Next Step Pour and Cool A variety of molds can be used: candy mold, soap mold, silicone baking mold, mini muffin pan Carefully pour mixture into molds or into small jars/tins Once they are thoroughly cooled and hardened, press gently on the mold to pop the bar out.
