Terms of Entry 2018 Ajax Town Hall Art Exhibitions 1. Priority will be given for the quality of the submission as well as to artists who are Ajax residents. 2. Entries submitted must be original works (no copies or work by another visual artist, whether paintings, photographs, illustrations or photographic reproductions). 3. Artist will be limited to one solo showing in any one year period. 4. Work must remain on site until the completion of the show. 5. Eligible works include paintings, photography, digital art, and hangable three dimensional designs and sculptures. Work must be appropriately presented. Each piece must have rings or screw eyes on both sides at the back placed no more than one third down from the top of the piece (so work does not lean out from the wall). The wire must be taut and of sufficient gauge to hold the work properly on the hanging rod. Wet art, faulty or poorly wired pieces, or those with only saw hooks, will not be accepted for hanging. 6. Works (including frame) must be a minimum size of 8" X 10", and weigh no more than 88 lbs. Works that are smaller than 8" X 10" are at an increased risk for theft and will not be accepted. 7. Artists must deliver and pick up the work on the assigned dates and times or make alternate arrangements with someone else to do so. Arrangements with artists will be discussed and confirmed with Town of Ajax Representatives. 8. Insurance coverage will be the responsibility of the artist. 9. Decisions on selected exhibitions and timing will be made by the Town of Ajax and communicated to all applicants/artists as soon as possible. The Town of Ajax reserves the right of final decision on the suitability of subject matter. 10. The Town reserves the right to remove any work at any time and agrees to contact the Artist if any work is removed so the Artist can pick up the removed work. 11. Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time on three (3) days notice. 12. Each Artist must submit a short bio, photograph (if available), a two line description of the art exhibit and the Artist Exhibition Form, which lists their artwork and values (attached), upon submission for publicity purposes. 13. The Artist must provide and prepare the title cards for each piece of art work exhibited. Please note that the title card must be attached to the art work (not on the wall). Title cards can also be taped to the hanging rod.

General Information The exhibit space is located at Ajax Town Hall in the Council Chamber Lobby (65 Harwood Ave. S., Ajax, 905-683-4550). Ajax Town Hall is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may have extended hours depending upon scheduled meetings and events. The facility is closed Saturday & Sunday and on most statutory holidays. The space can exhibit approximately 15 pieces of artwork. The total number of pieces will depend upon the sizes of your work. Promotion: The Town will provide promotion on the Town website. The Artist will also have the opportunity to host a reception in the lobby area on a date and time mutually agreeable to the artist and the Town of Ajax. Joint or Group Showings: The Artist submitting the exhibit application is responsible for communicating and coordinating the information contained in the package to all other Artists they have invited in the Group Exhibit, however, if the Town representative is grouping the artists as a Joint Exhibit then each individual artist is responsible for completing and submitting an exhibit application.
