CTEC Introduction Beauty Specialists are qualified to carry out a wide range of Facial treatments as well as Manicure and Pedicure. These treatments are designed to improve skin care and condition, and are all designed to help improve facial conditions and promote a feeling of well-being. It is important that the Beauty Specialist is caring and intelligent and has a wellgroomed appearance. At CTEC, we offer a range of certified programmes on a part-time basis, leading to ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) and FETAC (Further Education & Training Awards Council) awards. ITEC is an international examination board, operating in over 38 countries worldwide offering a variety of beauty qualifications. FETAC is the Irish awarding body for further education awards on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (levels 1 to 6). Our beauty courses can be taken individually or participants can complete all available courses for a reduced rate. Course Costs All courses can be taken individually as per the listed prices. ITEC Diploma for Beauty Specialist (includes all listed ITEC Courses) 2,500.00 inclusive payable by instalment. ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma and both FETAC certificates 2,650.00 inclusive payable by instalment. Dress Code & Equipment Learners on all Beauty Courses are required to purchase a uniform top which is available from the centre, and should also wear black trousers and low-heeled black pump shoes in class. For some courses, it may be necessary to purchase additional equipment e.g. make-up kits and brushes. ITEC Certified Courses Assessment and Certification The assessment for all ITEC certificate courses will consist of a one hour theory examination, a practical assessment carried out by the tutor and also a practical assessment carried out by a visiting ITEC External Examiner. Examinations normally take place annually. FETAC Certified Courses FETAC level 5 Skincare & Eye Treatments (L22534) This module is designed to give learners knowledge of the Beauty Therapy Industry and provide a range of skincare and treatments. Course Cost: 305.00 (inclusive of certification fees) Unit 1 Skincare & Eye Treatments 10.1.1 Identify different types of skin 10.1.2 Recognise and list total and local contraindications to treatments, such as infectious diseases ie any form of infection, disease or fever, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, any known allergens. 10.1.3 A knowledge of bacterial, viral and congenital diseases and their causes, specifically, eczema. Psoriasis, acne vulgaris and rosacea, impetigo, urtacaria, viral warts and herpes simplex. 10.1.4 Understand, explain and demonstrate the appropriate products to perform a superficial cleanse for the following skin types, dry, dehydrated, oily, combination and mature. 10.1.5 Understand, explain and demonstrate the use and effects of appropriate toning products on the various skin types. FETAC Certified Courses FETAC level 5 Make-Up Application (L22533) The module is designed to give the learner knowledge of Beauty Therapy and the Beauty Industry and enable the candidates to provide treatments for the purpose of enhancing the appearance with the use of make-up.
