GRAPHIC DESIGN PORTFOLIO

an old friend from high school AcneFree hasn t changed their visual identity for quite some time, so it was a no-brainer for me and two of my classmates to give the packaging a facelift. This project was a collaboration between myself, another graphic designer, & an industrial designer. During research, we found many consumers were skipping steps in the AcneFree system producing less than satisfactory results due to the scattered information design. We solved this with color-coding and a clear numbering system that takes top priority. We also completely redesigned the bottles with regimented pumps rather than self-serve squeeze bottles. This helps the user regulate how much product they consume with each use.

pac-12 football championship The PAC-12 2016 Football Championship was one of the primary projects I worked on during my time at Infinite Scale Design Group. Under the supervision of designers Alex Campbell and Erin Stearns, I helped to design and produce large-scale graphics for the football field wall, temporary signage, banners, and other miscellaneous graphics for the event. Throughout the system, we capitalized on the PAC-12 brand's distinctive shield shape and energetic color palette to create a consistent graphic style across all applications.

various landor projects VICKS SINEX BRAND REPOSITIONING During my first internship at Landor, I had the privilege of helping out on the brand repositioning of Vicks Sinex. I collaborated on this project with a team of about six other designers from the first meeting to the beginning stages of production. My responsibilities included conceptual sketching, color studies, typography studies, and photography sourcing, among many other duties. Although my initial design wasn't the chosen concept, I remained heavily involved in the refinement and production of the product currently on shelf. OLAY IN-SHOWER BODY LOTION COOLING WHITE STRAWBERRY & MINT This package design was one of the final projects I worked on during my time as an intern at Landor. Essentially, I adapted the "Cooling White Strawberry & Mint" from a shampoo scent to an in-shower body lotion scent. This project involved a lot of photoshopping and compositing to create the image of berries swathed in cream, as well as rethinking the typographic layout to work well with the in-shower body lotion container.

don t forget your goggles City Goggles is an exciting video-based project that highlights hidden gems across various U.S. cities. I designed this identity in collaboration with the owner of City Goggles my brother! The resulting identity combined an engaging limited color palette, a visual pun (doubling as the word GO) and a brand voice that just wants to get outside and have some fun. My favorite challenge in this project was implementing the principle always have fun across every deliverable even the letterhead. I designed the branding across all of the printrelated platforms (business cards, t-shirts, buttons, and more).

a locallybrewed book The coffee scene in Cincinnati is so full of life that it s sometimes hard to choose a coffee-shop to hang out in. This prompted me to design a Coffee of The Queen City guidebook as a student project. The design of this book contained an impressive challenge how do I design a book about coffee without falling into the usual clichés of coffee-related graphic design? In my solution, I drew inspiration directly from the burlap sacks that coffee beans come in to create a unique aesthetic that quickly relates to coffee. My goal in designing this book is to introduce coffee lovers to new coffee shops in Cincinnati, and celebrate old favorites. I bound the book by hand and screen-printed the cover myself. All text and contextual images were collected from their respective coffee shop websites.

some real characters The University of Cincinnati Navigators hosts an exciting series of events every year targeted toward freshmen moving onto UC s campus. This year the theme revolved around cartoons, prompting me to use illustration on the primary campaign touchpoints. Each event flier features a unique illustrated character that relates to the event in some way. One constraint that helped me make a lot of decisions on this project was limited budget. With this in mind, I took advantage of the limitations of one-color printing and used bright paper and t-shirts to offset black & white ink. This project was completed on a pro-bono basis.

construction can be sexy During my time as the sole graphic designer at Messer Construction Co., I had the opportunity to work on numerous projects that I m very proud of. These are a sampling of my favorites an annual community report, an icon system, and a poster series. One design challenge I tackled across each project was designing a unique final product while maintaining the Messer color palette, typographic rules, and brand voice. Due to the fact that I was employed as a temporary intern, I designed each deliverable with a strong system that any other designer after me could easily pick up.

one scoop or two? During a particularly stressful semester of college, I decided that I needed to take on a self-motivated passion project to keep my creativity alive. I ve always loved the art toy phenomenon, so it seemed natural to put my own spin on the idea. The result combined my favorite food with one of my favorite mediums paper! Creating the 3D component of these guys was an exciting challenge that tested my iterative design skills and stretched my creativity in a new way. My favorite portion of this project was illustrating other foods into the ice cream shape such as popcorn and a cheeseburger.
